OH & I have found the only name we can really agree on for our little girl & is accepted by the people that matter to us to be Macy. She will be a Macy June L...(uncommon 3 syllable surname). Any thoughts on this, nice or otherwise? Anything I haven't spotted with problematic initials or possible nicknames?

FriggFRIGG · 13/04/2013 21:58

Rhubarbgarden · 13/04/2013 22:36

Hate it.

WTF does chavvy American mean Confused

Fairyloo · 14/04/2013 10:29

Usuallyrude what do you think it means?

Gomez · 14/04/2013 10:31

Macy is a great dog owned by a couple of pals.

Macy Gray has a cracking voice.

Macy just doesn't seem like a proper name to me.

Madamecastafiore · 14/04/2013 10:31

Common and not as in lots of people are called it.

Longdistance · 14/04/2013 10:32

I know a Marcy. She's cute, but naughty.
Macy Grey?

ZolaBuddleia · 14/04/2013 10:36

Doesn't do it for me, I'm afraid, not keen on Madison, Kasey, Lacey etc and it feels like part of that group to me. But it scans well and I can't see any obvious howlers regarding initials!

FaceLikeAPickledYonion · 14/04/2013 10:50

It was our number 1 girls name choice for ds1 7 years ago, glad we had a boy because although i loved it then, i don't like it much now but i still love ds1's boys name choice.
It didn't make our list for ds2 (if he'd of been a girl).

But if you like it, go for it.

fanjodisfunction · 14/04/2013 10:59

I don't see anything wrong with the initials, if you like the name and your DH likes the name that is all that matters. Congrats.

LaurieFairyCake · 14/04/2013 11:00

Macy = shop in New York

amandasegal · 14/04/2013 11:31

i love it!

TidyDancer · 14/04/2013 11:45

I really dislike the name tbh.

I agree with Zola's analysis.

usualsuspect · 14/04/2013 13:43

I think calling someones name choice 'chavvy American' is rude.

Not keen at all.

ZolaBuddleia · 14/04/2013 14:17

I LOVE Marnie! Love that it's a derivative of Marina, so means sea, and it feels v 60s. Unfortunate Hitchcock connection.

PuffPants · 14/04/2013 14:23

Don't like it. Fees a bit "c" word. Plus I'm in the States atm and there's one on every high street!

catlady1 · 14/04/2013 14:26

I don't like it, sorry

noblegiraffe · 14/04/2013 14:37

I teach a Macy and a Maisy and they mishear each other's name all the time. I prefer Maisy as Macy is a bit American.
