Is this really a 'naughty boy' name?

Nikos (Nikolaos)

I'm not sure I believe in such a tag, but of course names create an impression on people.
I remember a thread a while back on here where someone, maybe a teacher, said that every boy she'd met with the name was a naughty one.

Wasn't on my list for imminent DC until now but it just keeps popping into my head and won't go away. He'd be addressed as Niko (Greek grammar blah blah) and it sounds very sweet to me, but also could suit him through the ages too. Any thoughts?

Hilariously my phone keeps changing it to 'Nokia' - now that I would veto!

We had a Niko at school, he was German. He was tall, dark and beautiful. He wasn't 'naughty' but he did have a gilt in his eye...which made you think he just never got caught Grin

Really lovely guy. Good name.

Thank you farmersdaughter. That is a better association! :)

Sounds like a memory from a Greek holiday to me !

PixelAteMyFace · 26/02/2013 16:03

Great name, suits all cute boys - even the naughty big ones Grin

What a lovely name, OP :)

Don't worry; it isn't what I think of as a 'naughty boy' name (if such names exist).

PampersAndHuggiesMe · 26/02/2013 16:17

No, its beautiful.

GiannaK · 26/02/2013 17:35

Ah so many positive replies! Thank you! I'm now torn between that and Alexandros.

Hi, I have been teaching secondary for 10 years and never had a boy with this name. So 1- nice and unusual and 2- no naughty connotations! In fact I don't have any naughty boy common names. So go for it.

scottishmummy · 26/02/2013 19:55

Nikos is smashing name,love it

scottishmummy · 26/02/2013 19:56

Just seen alexandros, like that too

MrsMushroom · 26/02/2013 19:58

No it's lovely.

Kayden is a naughty boys name....or Marley.

GirlOutNumbered · 26/02/2013 20:00

I've also taught secondary for a long time and never had a Nikos.... If I did I would assume that his parents were Greek or similar.

Ruprekt · 26/02/2013 20:04

Niko is a lovely name.

At my school, names beginning with K are trickier!!Smile

Rhubarbgarden · 26/02/2013 21:23

Nice name.

RalphGnu · 26/02/2013 21:24

Both are lovely names.

IAmLouisWalsh · 26/02/2013 21:29

I think it is lovely.

I did teach a Nikelos once and asked if he had Greek relatives. Turned out no, they just couldn't spell Grin

There's no such thing as a 'naughty boys name, only 'naughty boys' Grin

I think it's a lovely name.

GiannaK · 26/02/2013 22:56

Thanks everyone. It is growing on me every second.
LouisWalsh that is hilarious!

Just seen that Nikolaos is no. 5 in Greek top 100 boys' names at the mo. Doesn't bother me, but hadn't anticipated that. Top name is Georgios which ILs would like. Eek.

I like it.

My Greek ex boyfriend is Niko, really nice bloke. Though he did get pissed off watching my Big Fat Greek Wedding, when every male family member is named Nick. Bit of a stereotype, but also very true in his family of Nicks and Nikkis! His sister was a Greek variant of Nicola!

Lovely name, if you are happy to be asked "Oh, have you got Greek family?" all the time Smile
