Is this really a 'naughty boy' name?

Nikos (Nikolaos)

I'm not sure I believe in such a tag, but of course names create an impression on people.
I remember a thread a while back on here where someone, maybe a teacher, said that every boy she'd met with the name was a naughty one.

Wasn't on my list for imminent DC until now but it just keeps popping into my head and won't go away. He'd be addressed as Niko (Greek grammar blah blah) and it sounds very sweet to me, but also could suit him through the ages too. Any thoughts?

Hilariously my phone keeps changing it to 'Nokia' - now that I would veto!

It's nice, but v v popular in Greece. He'll be one of about 10 at school.

I think the article by the teacher said that boys called Konor with a K were a handful.

I know of two, both teens, one a bit cheeky, the other full on bad boy.

I've only known one Niko - he wasn't the best behaved or most even-tempered child in the class but he was lovely!

HoneyandRum To add to the stereotype, ex boyfriend Nick's brother was Georgios!

And if they're not Nick they're George (if we're going with stereotypes) a la George Michael (Georgios Kyriacos Panagiòtou).

Lovely name, if you are happy to be asked "Oh, have you got Greek family?" all the time Smile

My Greek ex boyfriend is Niko, really nice bloke. Though he did get pissed off watching my Big Fat Greek Wedding, when every male family member is named Nick. Bit of a stereotype, but also very true in his family of Nicks and Nikkis! His sister was a Greek variant of Nicola!

Thanks everyone. It is growing on me every second.
LouisWalsh that is hilarious!

Just seen that Nikolaos is no. 5 in Greek top 100 boys' names at the mo. Doesn't bother me, but hadn't anticipated that. Top name is Georgios which ILs would like. Eek.

I've also taught secondary for a long time and never had a Nikos.... If I did I would assume that his parents were Greek or similar.

Hi, I have been teaching secondary for 10 years and never had a boy with this name. So 1- nice and unusual and 2- no naughty connotations! In fact I don't have any naughty boy common names. So go for it.
