How is it pronounced?

EbbNFlow · 19/01/2013 11:11

Its lovely. Very biblical.n

Zeke is quite a hipster NN in the USA.

Bluestocking · 19/01/2013 11:11

I like it, it's a strong Old Testament name, and Zeke is a cool diminutive.

thegreylady · 19/01/2013 13:00

Polly it is Ee-zeek-ee-el :-)

Oooh, interesting one. I'm not sure.

I like Zeke a lot, but not sure about Ezekiel. Although I have never heard of it before so it may grow on me!

Very unique name.

TillyTommyTootToot · 19/01/2013 13:17

Love it!

meditrina · 19/01/2013 13:19

Lovely name, and will be quite unusual in UK because it is so scriptural.

AKissIsNotAContract · 19/01/2013 13:20

I love it too, great name.

PoppadomPreach · 19/01/2013 13:22

Not keen. Trying to hard. But that's just my opinion - each to our own etc etc.

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 19/01/2013 13:22

It's very religious. Although having said that, the more unusual old testament names are becoming popular with a very nonreligious set right now (eg Chris Evans, Elton John).

Does anyone remember a 1980s US sitcom called "Saved By The Bell". The main character was Zeke.

Those are my only two associations.

AKissIsNotAContract · 19/01/2013 13:24

The main character in saved by the bell was Zack.

Thewhingingdefective · 19/01/2013 13:45

Really nice name. Like it a lot.

5madthings · 19/01/2013 13:47

I like it! Congratulations to your niece and to you on the arrival if your great nephew :)

noblegiraffe · 19/01/2013 13:50

Ezekiel is one of the most bonkers books in the Bible, clear evidence of drug taking IMO. But I don't think she has picked it for religious reasons - it's not as bad as people who name their kids Cain.

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 19/01/2013 13:54

AKiss - you are right but Zach and Zeke were mates.

AKissIsNotAContract · 19/01/2013 14:02

That's Screech!

Ilovemydogandmydoglovesme · 19/01/2013 14:12

I know someone who's surname is Ezekiel. Quite cool for a first name.

TomDudgeon · 19/01/2013 14:30

I have a friend with an Ezekiel/Zeke
The parents are so cool so I suspect Zeke will be too

ellesabe · 19/01/2013 18:32

We were going to have an Ezekiel but ended up with 2 girls. Maybe next time... [grin[

DontmindifIdo · 19/01/2013 18:37

I love it! Would never convince DH though.

Egusta · 19/01/2013 18:38

I love these Old testament underused names. i wanted Ezekiel also- but that was down to a tv series when i was in my teens that featured a very sexy fallen angel called ezekiel and the devil played by john glover.

I think it is a really cool name.

Egusta · 19/01/2013 18:39

oooh... just googled. the series was called 'brimstone'.

gosh that was a long time ago.

i think the mae is very classy and classic though. :) Love that these proper bibilical names are coming back. (someone mentioned Eli the other day). Gorgeous.

foofooyeah · 19/01/2013 18:41

love it too

onedev · 19/01/2013 18:48

Love it! (Although wouldn't have the nerve myself!!) Grin

DessieLou · 19/01/2013 19:24

Love that this thread has turned into a 'saved by the bell' discussion! I believe there was also a Zeke on 'neighbours' a while ago Blush. Personally I love the name but pretty sure dp wouldn't agree unfortunately.
