Really like Monty (short for Montague) for ds4 to go with siblings George , Thomas and Ollie (Oliver).

Any thoughts? Does it sound like a dogs name????

Any other suggestions?

I like it. Python, Carlo, Don. All good connotations!

YoSaffBridge · 21/12/2012 22:30

Honestly, I did initially think pet name.

But it does actually go really well with your son's names. I think it's a name that even if you did think 'a bit doggy' you would warm to it really quickly. It's even growing on me as I'm writing this Grin

Love it!

Bessie123 · 22/12/2012 02:03

Noooo

Your ds will be fat or weedy with that name, it's inevitable

chickydoo · 22/12/2012 02:06

I love it!
Would be in my top 5 boys names

ArtigeneAuberchoke · 22/12/2012 07:57

I love it. It's a lot less commonly used than your three other DS's names but I see no particular problem with that.

It's on our list but as a nn for Montgomery.

"Your ds will be fat or weedy with that name, it's inevitable "

Confused
Bigboybed · 22/12/2012 09:46

Like it,sounds sweet and then can be known by the more formal name when older (if he wants to)!

LegArmpits · 22/12/2012 09:52

My dog is Monty. But my son has a very popular dogs name - my mum had a dog called it! So I wouldn't worry if you like it.

CuriouslyChristmassyColaHam · 22/12/2012 09:59

It's the name of my grandma's dog, so it just makes me think of him...sorry!

jkklpu · 22/12/2012 18:15

Sorry, can only think of Uncle Monty in Withnail and I and a black labrador I know

StrawberrytallCAKE · 22/12/2012 18:17

I love it, have a friend with the name and he is awesome.

StealthToddler · 22/12/2012 20:54

Thanks for all the replies so far... Anyone got thoughts on Montgomery vs Montague???

Love it, that and Jonty on my lists. It goes fab with other dc names.

izzybobsmum · 23/12/2012 06:31

Monty is the name of the naughtiest boy in my dd's class at school! I still like the name though. Am obsessed with Xander (short for Alexander) at the moment, after watching too much Pointless.

FryingNemo · 23/12/2012 07:01

I love it and wanted to use it but it was vetoed ny DH as he felt our extended German family might not warm to it. Wish I had used it. DS is a Monty really.

VBisme · 23/12/2012 07:16

I think I prefer Montegue to montgomery.

jemima99 · 23/12/2012 08:15

I have a Monty (short for Montgomery, but used when cross..). Not sure that he will be fat or weedy but there are a lot of dogs called Monty around but we are used to that as his eldest brother is Boris. Never take to heart other people opinions (especially family) as it will only upset you.

foxache · 23/12/2012 20:03

There are some lovely choirboys on the Westminster Abbey documentary, and one was called Monty. I thought ah, what a great name.

There's a Ned too, also lovely Smile

ChoudeBruxelles · 23/12/2012 20:09

DS's middle name is Montgomery (was my maiden name -and my Dad was always known as Monty)

Kaekae · 21/01/2013 14:40

I love Monty it would be on my SL if I were to have anymore children. Wouldn't worry about it being a dogs name....people used to think this about the name Sadie and Oscar and I know loads of littler girls and boys called this. My mothers dog is called Ben and I have even been in the park and overheard someone calling to their dog who happened to have the same name as my daughter!

mrs2mic · 21/01/2013 14:54

Love it :-)

Sasparillo · 23/01/2013 08:41

People call their dogs all sorts these days, gone are the days people called their pets, spot or patches! Lol, bothif mine have 'popular' pet names, so don't worry about that. My Mil's dog is called Monty but I quite like it for a little boy xx

IWantToGoToThere · 23/01/2013 09:08

Love it. It's on our list of 2 for our DS2 due in 2 weeks. DS1 is Hugo. Our other option for DS2 is Barnaby/Barney which I also love. Monty goes well with your other boys' names so I say go for it. I prefer Montgomery to Montague which in my mind is a surname

12ylnon · 23/01/2013 11:51

Sorry, but it reminds me of Uncle Monty from Withnail and I.... shudder
