Help! Two weeks to go and just can't decide.

Love Clemency. But too posh? And dd1 also begins with C.

Love Annie too, but worry I'll regret not using Clemency.

Have middle name sorted.

Straw poll and comments please.

Clemency is beautiful - elegant, feminine and underused!

MyCatsRule · 03/12/2012 09:39

Annie - gorgeous! Also love Anna.

Pochemuchka · 03/12/2012 09:42

Love Annie.

Clemency sounds a bit try hard to me.

MolotovCocktail · 03/12/2012 09:57

This on is tricky for me ...

I'd choose Annie because out of the two name choices, I would prefer my name to be Annie.

I'm not struck on Clemency as I actually think it sounds a little less feminine. If the choice was between Annie and Clementine, though, Clementine would win hands down.

Told you it was tricky!

poppydaisy · 03/12/2012 10:52

Clemency for me - beautiful name that sounds great on a little girl (Clemmie) and an adult. Also like Clementine.

Clawdy · 03/12/2012 10:55

Clemency is beautiful! As a primary school teacher, have never come across one either. And even Clem for short sounds cute.

ChestnutsRoastingonaWitchesTit · 03/12/2012 10:56

Gorgeous! Can you have both?

WonkyWilly · 03/12/2012 11:58

Clemency is just gorgeous, Annie is beyond blah!

tammytoby · 03/12/2012 12:03

Clemency is really lovely and elegant and much more interesting than Annie (which I agree is a little dull and overused).

YouCanBe · 03/12/2012 12:13

I don't like the Clem sound. It makes me think of phlegm and clams.
Sorry!

JingleBellaTheGymnast · 03/12/2012 17:33

Clemency! If you worry you'd regret not using it then it's The One.

Alisvolatpropiis · 03/12/2012 17:47

Annie.

Clemency is awful it's something you ask for not a name!

bigbluebump · 04/12/2012 15:10

I really like the sound and look of Clemency. It sounds feminine, elegant and classic. It is also not overused as so many other names.

Annie is quite cute but a little dull in comparison. Also much more widely used and 'trendy' (along with other cutesy names Popppy, Ellie, Evie etc).

SuperChristmasScrimper · 05/12/2012 12:13

Annie. Just becuase I wouldn't want to be a grown up called Clemency.

DoesntTurkeyNSproutSoupDragOn · 05/12/2012 12:15

If it's one or the other, Annie. I despise "virtue" names.

Gwennan · 05/12/2012 13:59

I like Annie - probably a little bit more as a nickname than as a given name in its own right.

I've only known (of) one Clemency. I expect she's in her late 20s now. I think she went by Clem, which I'm not a massive fan of but, then again, I don't like Em for Emily either. Her name sounded fab though because her surname also began with a C: think Clemency Carter or similar.

VictorAndBarry · 05/12/2012 14:04

Annie, works so well with every age.

Clemency is a bit posh and feminine, bit restricting if she's a kick ass feisty type. Mind you, that logic could drive you mad, as you try to second guess characteristics!

rachel234 · 05/12/2012 18:22

I think Clemency is gorgeous - classy, elegant and with the option of shortening to Clemmie.

Mu1berries · 05/12/2012 20:38

Annie

Clemency is a good name for a celebrity who just wants to be known by her first name. but clem for short? not great.

What about Nancy? that seems to have a touch of Clemency about it. But not so extreme. or Anneliese? but Annie is lovely.

buttercrumble · 05/12/2012 20:42

Both beautiful...

overtheseatocalais · 05/12/2012 20:56

Annie. I love Clemency, but I agree with youcanbe (it brings to mind phlegm and clams) If everybody agreed they would only ever call her Clemency I'd choose it over Annie, but of course, that's unrealistic... Clem is awful as a nn and that's what most children would use as nn I think ... Annie is cool and sweet. Xmas Smile

Dh2812 · 05/12/2012 21:51

Annie. The shortened and nicknames for Clemency are awful.

Clawdy · 05/12/2012 23:01

Why are Clem and Clemmie awful? If you start ruling out names because they rhyme with something, then you rule out most names...including Annie.

Mu1berries · 06/12/2012 00:40

Clem and clemmie sound like somebody clearing their throat to me. Phlegm
