We've been trying to avoid too common or too modern, what do you all think? x

I don't think there will be lots of adult Poppy's. There will be a sprinkling of them. It's a pretty name but I don't think it will stand the test of time. But who knows!

A joey is a baby kangaroo not a man.

People haven't been tactless and rude, they have given their honest opinion. Because you asked.

Anonymumous · 07/11/2012 13:19

VivienneMary, are you suggesting that there is going to be a mass cull of little girls called Poppy before they reach adulthood? Shock There were 2,932 new ones last year alone - where are they all going to disappear to?!

Viviennemary · 07/11/2012 14:03

I didn't realise there were that many! Perhaps they'll all change their name to Gertrude. Grin

Most people have expressed opinions in an appropriate way, others have definitely been tactless and verging on rude! Trust me, as the OP I've read every comment. I'm not offended by it, just surprised! As as someone who hasn't used this forum much I expected it to be a light hearted, more positive atmosphere on here. The way some people have replied you'd think I was naming their kids! Very awkward people on here who seem determined to have the last word....
Certainly won't be on here much, and i'm sure other people have been put off too as I've seen. Shame, sure it's not what this forum was about when it was started.

You seem really keen to drag this out... I've deliberately not replied to your last few posts as I said 2 pages ago that I think it best we should agree to disagree. Now you're picking out things I've said to someone else? By netmums I meant internet Mums. Hope this sits OK with you. Wink
I'm sure your time could be spent much more productively than analysing my posts. You obviously have a lot of knowledge surrounding baby names. Best of luck with parenthood and choosing your own names. I bet they're fab! Grin

Netmums is a site, you know. And my comment was tongue in cheek.

Thank you for your advice on how best to spend my time though. If you don't want people responding to your posts, then don't post.

I have chosen five fab (full) names for my children, the youngest of whom is now 11 and the oldest of whom is now 22 and gainfully employed. The next youngest two (aged 19 and 17) managed to get themselves summer jobs in legal firms thanks to their solid CVs and they are hoping to get the same jobs next summer too.

Your good wishes are most appreciated.

LuckyOwl28 · 09/11/2012 19:30

Thanks for the info about netmums, you clearly spend more time online than I do Grin

Congratulations on your childen's achievements, I can only hope that my poor half-named child will make it through life in one piece! Wink
