I'm thinking of calling my next daughter coriander, what do you all think?

Reminds me of the Sally Gardner book - great story. Never met a real life Coriander, but why not?

cheeseandmushroomghostie · 26/10/2012 18:53

Depends on your surname. If its Green, I wouldn't.

sunflowerseeds · 26/10/2012 18:53

If she's twins they could be Carrot and Coriander. Or Tomato and Basil.
Vegetable names are a bit hippy.

AThingInYourLife · 26/10/2012 18:57

Don't be ridiculous.

:o

Coriander? :o

PickledFanjoCat · 26/10/2012 18:58

Spicy.

messtins · 26/10/2012 19:00

Rosemary
Lavender
Minty (short for Araminta)
Flat leaf parsley

Nope, sorry, I don't think herb names is a good theme to pursue.

clam · 26/10/2012 19:03

Sorry, but I'm going to be cruel to be kind.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! People will take the piss for ever and ever. Don't do it.

ruby22 · 26/10/2012 19:03

Agree, but I do like Sorrel.

MarianForrester · 26/10/2012 19:06

Lynda Snell's step daughter

biscuitracer · 26/10/2012 19:07

Our other little girl is called Julia, just thinking of something a bit more exotic to compliment Julia.

I'm going to say no. clam is right, lifetime of sniggers when she introduces herself...

DorothyGherkins · 26/10/2012 19:10

Corrie. Thats nice.

TidyGOLDDancer · 26/10/2012 19:13

Need to know the outcome of this one. Grin

PickledFanjoCat · 26/10/2012 19:13

Julia and coriander sounds whacko!

EauRouge · 26/10/2012 19:14

Sounds a bit masculine. How about Coriandrea?

TheDeathAndGories · 26/10/2012 19:16

Saffron
Bryony

Even anise is better

biscuitracer · 26/10/2012 19:16

Never thought of Corrie, that's lovely. If she doesn't like it or can't cope with sniggers from all the Lexis, she can use the nn Annie.

DH thinks its masculine!

biscuitracer · 26/10/2012 19:23

Some great suggestions, anise sounds a bit too much like anus tho. Grin

Coralie?

lotsofcheese · 26/10/2012 19:26

No. Just, no.

PickledFanjoCat · 26/10/2012 19:27

Corin?

TheHAUNTEDHouseofMirth · 26/10/2012 19:29

I went to school with a Coriander. That was 30 years ago and it didn't seem very controversial. Her sister was called Joanna. If you like it then use it.

PedanticPanda · 26/10/2012 19:30

Are you kidding or actually being serious?

Yamyoid · 26/10/2012 19:32

Sorry, but you have reminded me of a time DS mistook 'her' for 'herb' at the park and as we'd been planting the seeds that day, he decided that the little girl he'd befriended must be called Coriander. He kept calling after her, 'Coriander', and I kept cringing but laughing inwardly. It never occurred to me it could be a real name. IMO don't think it works, sorry.
