I don't know if I would have liked it if I hadn't met a cute little girl with it a few years ago. Trying to work out if it's nice or too OTT

Do you think it's a very posh name?

I like it, think it's made a come back.

delilah88 · 25/09/2012 19:55

Where is that? London? One website says that there were only 500 of them in 2010. If they're all in your neighbourhood perhaps they won't be in mine! ;-)

I love it. But DH doesn't, sadly.

Bluestocking · 25/09/2012 19:55

I like both Beatrice and Beatrix very much. I don't think it's obnoxiously posh - more classy, which is not the same thing! And Bee is a cute diminutive.

I like it, don't think it is particularly posh. I wound if it is about to get hugely popular? It seems to crop up a lot on baby names threads at the moment.

delilah88 · 25/09/2012 20:18

I reckon it will get popular but not in top 50. I think it'll be like Matilda.

AgathaPinchBottom · 25/09/2012 20:22

Gorgeous - go for it. I love it.

hazeldog · 25/09/2012 20:24

its my horses name! love it. meaning is "beautiful" i think?

YouMayLogOut · 25/09/2012 20:42

It's a lovely name. Not OTT at all, quite a classic really. There are a lot of more "out there" names.

fluffywhitekittens · 25/09/2012 20:43

I was going to use it as a middle name if ds had been a dd :)

picnicbasketcase · 25/09/2012 20:44

Love it

lisaro · 25/09/2012 20:46

I've always loved it - it was my aunty's name. If any of my boys were a girl they would have been Beatrice. It's very, very popular now, though.

Ham69 · 25/09/2012 20:47

Love it. Definitely not OTT and not particularly posh though may have been a few years ago. I would say it's getting more mainstream now.

SilkStalkings · 25/09/2012 20:48

Like it especially with a B- surname so her nickname would be her initials BB.
(Also works for GG, CC without alliteration).

kellestar · 25/09/2012 20:50

DD is Beatrice, we are Somerset based and haven't met another. All family were shocked, initially, but they really love it now. Her nn is Bea. I did worry it sounds quite posh, we say it Bee Ah Triss. But MIL still says Beet riss and it doesn't sound right.

delilah88 · 25/09/2012 22:17

Those saying it's popular, do you mean among v little new babies, or among toddlers? I mean, is it likely to be in the top 10 next year?

BananaBubbles · 25/09/2012 22:23

No.I think it's ugly and harsh. It's very popular on MN though, and I can't understand why.
