Well said, Trufflecrumble.

My dd(5)s best friend is called Tayla. She's lovely. (and has pierced ears).

SilkStalkings · 20/09/2012 13:51

Nobody is saying that a child called Taylor can't possibly have any class, wit or style (assuming that is the opposite of Jeremy Kyle contestants.) They are pointing out that people will make the assumption that they don't have these qualities, given the statistical frequency of such names on such tv shows.
We are pooling our experience of these names, not making assumptions about the children themselves (all right we are probably making assumptions about their parents for choosing them.)

YouOldSlag · 20/09/2012 13:52

Some of you are so rude and judgemental. Your DCs won't go far in life with such narrow minded parents. You think you're above everyone, when in fact you are just showing how thick and uneducated you are.

So because I think the name Taylor is over used, my (very intelligent) DCs will have a dead end life and my degree counts for nothing?

Interesting reaction to several people not liking a name....

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 20/09/2012 13:54

About four people on this thread. Hardly worth getting worried about it it?

It's not that bad even if it's not to your taste.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 20/09/2012 13:55

Probably not aimed at you old slag, your point was reasonable.

cat · 20/09/2012 14:18

Not aimed at you at all old slag. Read the posts above yours.

FunnysInLaJardin · 20/09/2012 14:22

wow, I know a 2yo Taylor. He is a little boy, he is not a chav and his mother is certainly not 'white trash'. Very unpleasant comments.

Mellower · 20/09/2012 16:35

I also know a Taylor, nice lad my sons friend, his parents are so not anything that has been suggested on this horrible, people with their heads up so far up their asses they can see nothing thread. Smile

lljkk · 20/09/2012 16:46

Two of my US cousins have adorable DDs called Taylor. I don't mind it.

If I tried to explain to my US cousins the snobbery that some British people feel about Taylor as a forename, I would come up with made up names like Aleysha, Mintia, Porsha, Trooza. Names that make you feel "Something is not quite right."

DancehallDaze · 20/09/2012 18:04

Some people here have completely missed the point. Nothing new there i suppose.

cat · 20/09/2012 19:09

What's the point that's been missed Dancehall? Smile

scarlettsmummy2 · 20/09/2012 19:15

I personally think it is a bit chavvy, however I have a Scarlett so my opinion is obviously diminished!

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 20/09/2012 19:52

Yeah I think there are a few people on here who have missed the point too!

cat · 20/09/2012 19:53

Have I missed the point?

Wink

"point, no that would not work.....meh"

marriedinwhite · 20/09/2012 20:53

What is the point? It's where Kevin and Wayne were about 35 years ago but that's just my opinion.

cat · 20/09/2012 21:01
Mellower · 20/09/2012 21:15

Oh I fell in love with a "Wayne" at 14 [crushed] He bought me scrumpie cider, oh he was hot, wish I could remember his surname. He was from somerset. taunton and had a big flick!

In his hair, of course Hmm

Now back to the point.

There is a point to this thread.

Every thread has a point.

I just cannot see one here right this minute oratalltoday but I will be back tomorrow with a fresh Friday witty mind and I am sure I will find "the point".

If anyone discovers it before then PM me. Grin
