Really really like Sorrell Smile

GOLDFaverolles · 05/09/2012 12:35

Another vote for Sorrell :)

DawnOfTheDee · 05/09/2012 12:38

I like Flora which has nothing to do with me being a Jilly Cooper fan and Penelope is lovely too - nice nicknames like Penny, Nell, etc

WinkyWinkola · 05/09/2012 12:44

Flora Sorrell.

mrstowers · 05/09/2012 13:14
  1. Flora
  2. Sorrell
PeshwariNaan · 05/09/2012 14:08

Love Flora and Penelope - not as keen on Sorell or Rowena.

Mama1980 · 05/09/2012 14:09

Love Penelope not keen on the others tbh

maddiemostmerry · 05/09/2012 14:15

I like them allGrin

Preference for Sorrell, then Penelope, Rowena, Flora.

TudorJess · 05/09/2012 14:17

Rowena or Penelope are my favourites. They'd go well together too, Rowena Penelope or Penelope Rowena :)

Sorrell - not keen, reminds me of sorrow/sorrowful
Rowena - gorgeous, love this
Flora - not keen
Penelope - lovely

ProudNeathGirl · 05/09/2012 14:19

Rowena is dreadful. Mind you, I know a Rowena, and I don't like her, so may be influenced. Beware - her name is shortened to "Row", which is even worse!

Love Sorrell and Flora.

sian05 · 05/09/2012 14:25

Sorrell is my favourite of those as I know a lovely person with this name. I also like Penelope.

Not so sure of Rowena and Flora

Hybrid · 05/09/2012 15:25
  1. Sorrel
  2. Flora Both lovely names. Not keen on Rowena or Penelope
LemonLovesLilac · 05/09/2012 16:47

Love Penelope but really dislike the others!

ithaka · 05/09/2012 16:55

Love Flora and Sorrell.

Penelope is nice as well, not so sure about Rowena.

MadBusLady · 05/09/2012 18:27

Like Flora, love Penelope, but don't like Penny much (Penny Crayon was a right tit).

Sorrel - I like the idea of herb names but it's a bit close to sorry/sorrow isn't it? I'm rather liking "Fennel" at the moment, which probably means it'll be number 1 by the time I have any opportunity to use it.

I know of an annoying Rowena as well. Maybe it's the same one!

wordfactory · 05/09/2012 18:28

Sorrel - definitely.

TinyDancingHoofer · 05/09/2012 18:36

Rowena makes me instantly think of the happy mondays Grin but not much else. I used to ride a tiny pony named Sorrel and she was gorgeous if a bit cheeky. Flora, sorry but only if you have twins called utterly and butterly. Penelope is lovely, my friend called Penelope, gets called Pen Lop by all her DDs friends.

charlottehere · 05/09/2012 18:38

love penelope (except for kashardian link)
Sorrell is gawjus

Don't like the others

Pooka · 05/09/2012 18:41

Rowena is my favourite - my best friend at school. Lovely lovely woman. Used to nn Ro.

Also like Penelope but not so keen on penny.

Sorell sounds like sorrow.

Flora ok.

AlexanderS · 05/09/2012 20:04

Correct spelling: Sorrel. Very nice - simple but unusual.

Penelope is ok, love Penny for a NN.

Rowena...I'm not dead keen, it's a little harsh to my ears.

Flora - I like, but the association with Flora margarine is just too strong for me I'm afraid.

ImaginateMum · 05/09/2012 20:31

Penelope wins hands down. I have a very dear friend whose nn from Penelope is Nelli.

dubz · 05/09/2012 21:55

Flora is lovely. Penelope is OK, but I prefer penny. The other two I'm not so keen on. I prefer Rowan to Rowena. But all are fine really, your choice

Psammead · 05/09/2012 21:58

Not keen on Rowena. Love Rowan though.

Penelope is great, and will e DD2s name.

Sorrel is beautiful and I love it, but it does remind me of sorrow.

Flora is ok.

Clockless · 05/09/2012 22:01

All great names. OP how WOULD you spell sorrell? We are all kind of assuming not the way you wrote on the thread title....

Indali · 06/09/2012 07:26

Thanks for the feedback and the spelling correction on Sorrel! I will now definitely spell it with one 'l' now.

I think I would like to use Sorrel Penelope but am hesitating because am a little bit worried Sorrel is so close to sorrow it sounds a bit sad.
