purpleroses · 04/09/2012 23:29

Sorry, but it's a brand of lager to me Grin

Badgerina · 04/09/2012 23:29

C'est cidre.

scaevola · 04/09/2012 23:31

Lager - and one with a reputation too.

Athendof · 04/09/2012 23:31

Artois?

shaky · 04/09/2012 23:32

Along the same lines as Tia maria and bailey I'm afraid, sorry.

TheFallenMadonna · 04/09/2012 23:33

I love it.

Just to buck the trend...

Raeray · 04/09/2012 23:36

Nice name! Also has a lovely meaning - star. I like estella with Stella as a nickname. Smile

roundynotsquary · 04/09/2012 23:36

Do you know the beer hadn't even occurred to me. Is that really what people think of first? I just think of the word star which is what it means.

We liked this too. Went for Esther in the end.

CointreauVersial · 04/09/2012 23:38

Love it.

Evasmum12 · 04/09/2012 23:39

Yep, I would think of the lager, sorry.

Rachel130690 · 04/09/2012 23:42

I love this name. I wanted to call this baby it but I'm due a boy so maybe next time.

maresedotes · 04/09/2012 23:48

I like it, it's a strong name. Name of the ex head of MI5 (I think) and Stella McCartney. Never thought of the lager.

MrsShrek3 · 04/09/2012 23:49

I actually love the name

...but I do think lager Blush

GW297 · 04/09/2012 23:51

It's the name of a lager is what springs to mind- what about Estella?!

MrsTerrysChocolateOrange · 04/09/2012 23:51

What's the film, "STELLA" is it A Streetcar Named Desire?

BikeRunSki · 04/09/2012 23:58

I like it, is niece 's name.

InkyBinky · 05/09/2012 00:01

I really love this name and it was in my very long short list?

Noqontrol · 05/09/2012 00:03

The first thing I think of is lager. Which is a shame because its actually a nice name.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 05/09/2012 01:38

Love it. Was thinking this very morning in the shower what a lovely name it is Smile

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers · 05/09/2012 01:39

Estella(suggested below) is too Great Expectations + manipulative woman + miss havisham!

JohnWayne · 05/09/2012 01:43

Wife beater

pickledparsnip · 05/09/2012 01:49

Was my Grandma's name & I had planned to use if I'd had a girl.

humblebumble · 05/09/2012 03:20

I don't like the name particularly, but I really didn't even think of the connection to a lager and I am sure most kids wouldn't think about it either (if you are worried about teasing).

amck5700 · 05/09/2012 10:04

I really like it. I know one adult Stella and it makes me think of a classy powerful woman. Would have loved to use it but a) we have two boys and b) it really rhymes with our surname.

My OH really liked it too but I didn't take his suggestion of Stella and Artois too seriously if we had girl/boy twins!

His alternative was Jenna which sounded even worse with our surname but is a lovely name too.
