I don't think of the lager but lots of people do. Go for estella with Stella as a nn.

Or Stellar/Steller.

TudorJess · 05/09/2012 10:10

Pretty and with a nice meaning. Estella is nice too.

xmasevebundle · 05/09/2012 17:52

I love the name stella but... Sheila by jamie t.

Shelia goes out with stella and gets poured all over her fella....

I say no more!

Kelerina · 05/09/2012 17:57

Love it, it's on my short list

DangerMousey · 05/09/2012 18:10

Love it! In my favourite novel, Any Human Heart, the main character calls his daughter Stella, and refers to her as "our child of the stars" which I think is beautiful :-) would deffo be on my list too if we weren't having a boy!

ComradeJing · 05/09/2012 18:39

Favorite girls name. Smile also Stella Gibbons wrote cold comfort farm which is one of my favorite books.

Dh vetoed it. Angry

Myliferocks · 05/09/2012 20:23

There is a Spanish lager called Estrella if that helps!

GW297 · 05/09/2012 22:03

There's a Stella in Corrie and I also think of the Jamie T song 'Sheila.'

racingheart · 05/09/2012 22:19

Love that name. It's strong, pretty and has a great meaning. Never occurred to me to associate it with lager!

Secondsop · 05/09/2012 23:05

I like it. I wouldn't have thought of the lager at all. I would have thought of the "STELLLAAAAA!!!" episode of Seinfeld, but I think that's a fun connection to make!

mamalovesmojitos · 05/09/2012 23:21

Love it.

KikkiK · 05/09/2012 23:57

I love it. I would never have thought of the lager.

BorisTheBold · 06/09/2012 00:00

Love it, but then I have one. A few larger comments, but in the main very positive reactions. Classic and underused Latin name imo.

Fozzleyplum · 06/09/2012 00:13

I'm a Stella - so here's some "user feedback".
I've had very few lager comments, except when they used the "reassuringly expensive" slogan in the 80's(!). People rarely try to shorten it, and I don't feel that it labels me as a particular age or class. All in all, I've been pretty happy with it as a name (but don't get me started on my middle one.....)

ComradeJing · 06/09/2012 05:12

Fozzley Envy Massively jealous.

MolatovBomb · 06/09/2012 10:05

Love Stella; I love the meaning and think it sounds cool. I also love Estelle :)

HiHowAreYou · 06/09/2012 18:21

I like it. I wouldn't think of lager.

Lannie33 · 06/09/2012 22:32

Stella is OK to nice. I made no connection whatsoever to the lager and I don't think most normal people would, maybe only hormonally driven, moms-to-be who have become afficionados/over-analyzers of baby names (myself included Grin)

WhereAreMyShoes · 07/09/2012 22:13

I have a cousin Stella, it's a lovely name.
The beer connection doesn't bother me, and now the Jamie T lyrics are stuck in my head. But wouldn't stop me using it.
In fact, it's going on my spreadsheet!!

mathanxiety · 08/09/2012 04:48

I love it. An old name that sounds fresh and new.

I love Estelle too.

SomersetONeil · 08/09/2012 09:05

I don't think of the beer, but... I don't love it. Not quite sure why. It's just a bit hard-sounding, in a brassy blonde sort of way. :-/ Sorry.

tzella · 08/09/2012 10:35

Fozzleyplum I am a Stella too Smile I have found that people try to make a joke out of the lager association but there actually isn't much you can get out of it for the lols Grin

I've always liked my name. It's unusual without being outre and I think it suits me, as a classy powerful woman, mentioned above Wink

It has only recently become any sort of ishoo as my boss has a dog called Stella and, while being a generally lovely but v foul-mouthed man, has startled me on several occasions by talking about taking Stella out for a shit Sad

SomersetONeil · 08/09/2012 11:33

Hmm, tzella - that would piss me off!
