Rhizome or Lima?

That's what my 4yo DS thinks we should call a hypothetical 4th dc. Hmm

Have your dc had any input when naming a baby?
What would their choices be?

I once read about a couple who let their 3yo DD name their newest addition. She chose LaLa. Hmm

You might just get away with Lima! Grin

peeriebear · 20/08/2012 16:07

:o DD1 wanted to call DD2 Poodle.

piprabbit · 20/08/2012 16:08

Legume?

UterusUterusGhali · 20/08/2012 16:10

Grin at Poodle!

Legume sounds rather poncey. Wasn't Kurt Cobain's daughter Francis Bean?

Lovely. What a fabulous vocabulary your 4 yr old has Grin DD wanted DS2 called Sally before he was born (it was her faviourite name at the time - all her toys were Sally). When she realised he was a boy and couldn't be called Sally she went into a sulk and basically gave up on him - that was 9 years ago and they still don't get on.....

I asked DS1 (then 4) what he thought we should call ds3 before he was born, and he said Cunty Hmm

in my defence he likes making up new words, and this was a made-up word (or so he thought). we haven't been saying the c word around him!!!

UterusUterusGhali · 20/08/2012 16:13

Hahaha!
Cunty!
Brill!

My cousin wanted to call my other cousin 'Batman.' Surname is Bowyer. Batman Bowyer. Think it goes with a swing.

EdithWeston · 20/08/2012 16:16

I know a Lima - it's a Portuguese boys name.

You could also try Charlie, Mike, Oscar, Romeo or Victor for boys, or Juliet or India for a girl: or others which might work: Delta, Sierra? Or Foxtrot for the days when you're fed up?

Nephew wanted to call his little bro Shrek. Sobbed his wee heart out when it was explained Shrek wasn't actually a 'proper' name.

FireOverBabylon · 20/08/2012 17:18

I have a friend who named her younger sister. Poppy wasn't such a bad choice as they go, but this was some years ago (the younger sister is in her 20s now) and has had times of "why did you land me with this awful name".

notscarletbutgold · 20/08/2012 17:27

DS1, looking sleepily out of the window during a naming discussion between DP and I, said he wanted to call the baby Leaf. Which is now DS2s middle name and actually goes very nicely with the name DP and I decided on.... DS1 did refuse point blank to call DS2 anything other than Leaf for about 3 months though!

AlwaysHoldingOnToStars · 20/08/2012 20:41

If DS1 had had his way his brothers would be called Marmalade, twins Rainbow Boy and Rainbow Girl (he insisted till they were born that they were b/g despite scans definitely showing boys!) and Wayne.

I dread him having children! Grin

JambalayaCodfishPie · 20/08/2012 20:44

I have friend named Wendy, she was given her name by her older brother, Peter.

Really. Grin

Anifrangapani · 20/08/2012 20:44

We still call ds Tom Window - chickened out at the registry office.

SuzysZoo · 20/08/2012 20:48

My twins would have been Luke and Leia if I had left it to DS1 to name!

UterusUterusGhali · 20/08/2012 21:19

Aw, some lovely names! Grin

My 6 yr old ds has told me I'm not allowed to call baby Tarzan as he wants that name for his son. Grin

Badgerina · 20/08/2012 22:38

Pan-Lid.

Pochemuchka · 20/08/2012 23:04

DD has decided that DC3 should be called 'Twinkletoes'. Only if it's a boy, mind!
If it's a girl, DD wants her to have the same name as her! :)

Superfly · 20/08/2012 23:15

When my ds1 was small he was a fan of Robot Wars. He wanted to call a potential brother Death Metal or a sister Matilda.

MagdalenaAlec · 21/08/2012 00:44

:o at the lovely suggestions on here.

When we were struggling with naming DC2 - now DD, we asked DS to give his opinion on the subject. It turned out he wanted Scrat for a boy (yes, after the squirrel) and either Cheung or Tofu for a girl (after the chinese takeout lady/his favorite meal from the same place). Hmm

But he did come up with a nice nn for DD in the end, when we had been driving ourselves crazy at it for a month or two!

skyebluesapphire · 21/08/2012 00:47

DD 4yo said if she had a sister she would call her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse......

TheDoctrineOfEnnis · 21/08/2012 00:49

Orm, you could have gone with Salcombe. Maybe too late to change it now, though Grin
