I think I like old fashioned names - anyone care to share what their grandmothers/great-grandmothers were called.

Catherine Mary and Gertrude Mary; my dd is Catherine (not my biological child) and I only found out that my grandmother (who died when my father was 5, in 1933) was called Catherine once we'd chosen dd's name (she was always referred to as Mary); on DP's side there has been a Catherine in every generation since the 1770s...

Both my grandmothers had died before was born. One was Dorothy and the other Nellie - but not sure what it was short for. My mum had an Aunt Tamar (also dead by the time I came along) which I always thought was a nice name - although they called her Nanna!
