Forrest or Jasper
DC3 is due in less than 2 weeks and we are still undecided on names, for a girl we have either Blossom or Meadow but we're can't agree on boys...... I don't want a baby with no name.....Confused

Jasper is ok though I wouldn't choose it - I'm afraid Blossom and Meadow just make me think of fabric softener, and Forrest of Mr Gump.

Rowan fits with the nature theme, but sounds more like an actual 'name', iyswim.

Oh, just love Marley - it's great. Bluebell's very mainstream now for the spice girl reason I guess.
But for the next one what about Ainsley (Scottish) hermitage wood or clearing, Pierce (Welsh) rock, Glenn (Gaelic) mountain alley, Aster (English) a flower, Briony (Greek) climbing plant, Savannah (Native America) open plain - all unusual and nature-y but established names and without the unfortunate bovine or hollywood connections.

I think there is a jasper in the twilight series which might make it really popular.. Just if that bothers you.
I do think Forrest gump when I see Forrest and I think most people would.
Meadow is sweet.
Blossom makes me think of the tv show. Which is a shame, as it's a pretty name in itself. But again, that might not matter to you. I've ended up vetoing loads of names as there is some association I am not keen on, and you do get left with very little!
What about primrose or posy. I think they are similar-ish.
I actually also love lavender but lav for short is terrible!
My friends called their baby lilac as a middle name.

I like your name choices, but then I am a "vegan, hippy earth-loving type"! :)

LuellaLovesLavender · 17/07/2012 13:59

Jasper and Blossom would be my pick both lovely names. I think if Daisy, Rose, Lily, Petal, Poppy, Iris etc etc are all considered names and would not be slated here then there is no reason why you cannot call your child Blossom or Meadow or Forrest, people need to get down from their high horse!

I like Jasper and Meadow best Smile

bigbluebump · 17/07/2012 14:07

"one that identifies them but doesn't mark them out as being very posh/a chav/a hippy - and letting them grow into who they want to be. "

In my experience ANY name becomes the person they are, whether that person turns out to be (shy, outgoing, hippy, chavvy, educated, whatever) - if people want to make presumptions based on someone's name then that is their choice but I have learnt NOT to prejudge people on their name alone.

I think Marley, Bluebell and either of your suggested names are lovely, not overused, and I'm sure your children will be happy with the choices you've made Smile.

I love Jasper. i also know a little Forrest, but he is only a baby so I'm not sure if he has grown into his name yet.

mayanna123 · 17/07/2012 14:13

I like both Forrest and Jasper. Perhaps Jasper a little less due to the Jas shortening (which sounds a little feminine). Forrest goes really well with your other childrens' names. As does Blossom and Meadow.

CotedePablo · 17/07/2012 14:30

Jasper, personally not keen on, but nothing wrong with it. Forrest to me is really a surname, nothing wrong with that if it's what you're into.

Blossom would be a little difficult to live up to if she turns out to be a strapping big 6 footer. Meadow is just wrong.
