Forrest or Jasper
DC3 is due in less than 2 weeks and we are still undecided on names, for a girl we have either Blossom or Meadow but we're can't agree on boys...... I don't want a baby with no name.....Confused

I like Meadow, but have been watching The Sopranos recently! I don't really like either of the boys names - sorry

TheMightyMojoceratops · 17/07/2012 09:40

What are your other DC called?
I like Jasper, wasn't he one of the Three Wise Men?
Blossom reminds me of that programme of same name with Mayim Bialik, or my purple My Little Pony. I'd go for Willow over Meadow, "Med" as a nickname wouldn't appeal.

Forrest Gump, Jasper Carrott - nuff said. I think Lee means meadow, and
no one thinks thats particularly odd. Blossom is nice but could be embarrassing.

EugenesAxe · 17/07/2012 09:42

Not Forrest... Whittaker - dodgy eyed bloke who likes playing African despots? No.

Like Astr0naut Jasper is slang for wasp in my family but not too offensive otherwise.

Your girls names are a bit Hmm... but having recently seen a nursery name tag with 'Rain' written on it, you will have company. I think Meadow is slightly preferable.

JenaiMarrHePlaysGuitar · 17/07/2012 09:46

I rather think I channelled all my hatred for the Baby Names topic into the one post. Sorry OP Blush

AnAirOfHope · 17/07/2012 09:49

I like Jasper and Blossom but i like Mai-Blossom or May Blossom as a middle name as well.

Forrest is ok but i think more of a girls name than a boys. Meadow just isnt a name for me but if you like it thats all that counts.

Congrats on baby

littlemissbroody26 · 17/07/2012 09:50

I really like jasper! not so kean on forrest, love blossom and meadow, maybe you could give them a more formal middle name if they do find themselfs in the situation where they want/need a more formal name?

almapudden · 17/07/2012 09:51

I like Jasper.

Bazyboots · 17/07/2012 10:00

Jasper is the best of a god awful bunch. Listen to Stellan. Meadow, Forrest and Blossom are just silly. Give them as a middle name if you must. Oh and good luck with your new LO :)

puds11 · 17/07/2012 10:03

Boys i love, girls are shit, sorry

ThisTimeNextYearRodney · 17/07/2012 10:05

Love Jasper, was on my list for DS2 but DH vetoed it

Not keen on the girls names

nymeria · 17/07/2012 10:11

I think Blossom is lovely, and despite my better judgement I actually quite like Forrest! I am fond of 'nature' names though :)

Viviennemary · 17/07/2012 10:12

Not keen on Jasper or Forest.

MrsRhettButler · 17/07/2012 10:16

Jasper better than Forrest IMO.

I like meadow because when I hear it I picture a beautiful meadow full of flowers but I'm not sure I like the sound of the word if it didn't have that link iyswim? Blossom sounds lovely, I like both the girls names :)

Actually I think I'd quite like to be called blossom myself, its very pretty

UnSocialite · 17/07/2012 10:27

I think I marginally prefer Jasper to Forest, but they would go together really nicely as a first name/middle name combo either way around.

I don't really have a preference of Blossom or Meadow, but it's worth remembering that in a generation of Lily-Maes, Alfie-Lees, Princes and Beaus an adult called Blossom/Meadow won't be unusual! FGS in 2010 over 1000s Gracies were born - I would rather be a Blossom than a Gracie when introducing myself!

tummytickler · 17/07/2012 10:28

Forrest is fantastic. Dh would use it, but I worried about sports day! The kids wouldn't care, but the parents would know! saying that, it is fabulous. Not keen on Jasper at all.
I love Blossom and Meadow, I think Blossom is more wearable, and the name I would rather be myself out of the two.
How about Marigold, Juniper, Magnolia, Dahlia, Bluebell, Primrose, Hazel, Star?

What are your other dc called

dillnameddog · 17/07/2012 10:37

Nature names just seem very faux-hippy to me. Blossom especially is a terrible name.

KaylaC · 17/07/2012 10:43

Thanks for all your replies - I did ask for honest opinions you're right. I'm sure the people on here who made rude comments have probably named their children names I would never choose. It'd be boring if we all had the same names eh?!
Anyway, DS is callled Marley which is an old english name meaning 'meadow by the lake' and DD is called Bluebell which again is an old english name meaning 'flower' Both children have middle names they can use in later life if they wish. But right now they both love their names and are always complemented on them Smile

Jasper or Meadow.

sparkle12mar08 · 17/07/2012 10:50

Given your other dc's names I think Forest for a boy would be gorgeous! I wouldn't go for Meadow for a girl because that's what your ds1's name means but how about another flower name, or something to do with the air element?

Aworryingtrend · 17/07/2012 10:52

To me Jasper is a dog's name (know 2 dogs called this). i like Forrest for a boy. Not keen on Blossom or Meadow- bit hippy for my tastes, but if it suits you and your family go for it.

TheMightyMojoceratops · 17/07/2012 11:17

I think Jasper, Marley and Bluebell works. I'm not sure your girl names work, you'll have two "m" or two "bl" names to contend with. On the nature theme, what about Arden ("great forest") or Sylvie ("forest") for girls?
