Anna or Hannah?

I post on here all the time but that is because I am indecisive. Mostly about girls - we have decided on a boy's name. I am not due until Dec so expect many more posts...

Anyway at the moment it is Anna or Hannah - what do you prefer? Anna is new testment and Hannah is old testament and as a rule I prefer Old testament names but that is perhaps a little silly.

Anna sounds fresher somehow.

anna

I prefer Hannah. Anna always sounds to me like it's short for something, am sure many disagree though.

WhispersOfWickedness · 10/07/2012 13:41

Both are nice but I prefer Hannah Smile

Anna

I like both of these and was considering the same thing when pregnant with DD2. I settled on Anna, but honestly, both are lovely imo.

SandyBottoms · 10/07/2012 14:04

Hannah.

Tigertots · 10/07/2012 14:31

I prefer Anna, myself; sounds more dainty and doll-like. Hannah sounds harsher.

ByTheWay1 · 10/07/2012 14:34

Hannah - I have one too.... ( but beware if you have family from the SW - do you read this in-laws?!?! it will always be pronounced Anner anyhow....)

PandaNot · 10/07/2012 14:37

Anna, I have one Grin

sanitytrowel · 10/07/2012 14:46

I'm an Anna, but it is frequently mis-heard and am often called Hannah or Anne.
I like the fact that Anna is familiar in diverse countries: Greece, Russia,Scandinavia,Italy.

ThePathanKhansWitch · 10/07/2012 14:48

Anna.

mixedberrymilkshake · 10/07/2012 21:23

I prefer Anna spelled Ana. I don't know why- but it just looks nicer...

baskingseals · 10/07/2012 21:36

much prefer Anna, and i love Annaliese.

WithACherryOnTop · 10/07/2012 21:39

Hannah is nicer.

exoticfruits · 10/07/2012 21:42

Both lovely. Probably Hannah, but either are fine.

MidWeekSlump · 10/07/2012 21:46

I prefer Anna - Anna's I have met are lovely - Hannah's always have a slightly harder edge. And all name opinions are based on people we know aren't they really.

Jojay · 10/07/2012 21:47

Anna, not sure why really. I just prefer it.

Badgerina · 11/07/2012 07:06

Hannah. It's an awesome name.

RobinSparkles · 11/07/2012 07:12

Anna, but I don't know why Confused. They're both lovely but I seem to know more Hannahs.

LetLoveRule · 11/07/2012 10:12

Anna - v classy. Love it.

badtasteflump · 11/07/2012 10:18

I prefer Anna. I like both names but Hannah seems very popular ATM so that would put me off.

GingaNinja · 11/07/2012 10:18

Do you live somewhere where the 'H' is dropped regularly? My mum liked Hannah for my little brother (if he'd been female obviously)but because we lived in 'Ull then the name would have been pronounced 'Annah any road up. Grin I like both, have good friends called both, so good associations with both names.
