Middle name for Arya?

This is hypothetical because we have no idea what DC1 will be (TTC) and I'm at work and bored Grin

DH and I LOVE Arya for a girl. We would pronounce it Ar-ya (2 syllables), as opposed to Ar-ee-ah.

What would you give as a middle name? Our surname is the rather simple and commonplace King if that helps.

Please only suggest middle names for Arya and not alternatives since we are dead set on that as a first name Smile

Any ideas?? So far we quite like Arya Emily, but can't think of anything else!

Arya is pretty but very Game of Thrones.

PrettyInDecadence · 10/07/2012 12:08

Arya Grace would be very pretty, maybe Arya Sophie?

theworldisoutthere · 10/07/2012 12:12

attheendoftheday nothing wrong with being Game of Thrones Grin by the time she's old enough to notice the hype of it will be looong over, but we have loved the books for a bazillion years!

PrettyInDecadence ooh, I like Arya Grace Smile

That's a fair point, Game of Thrones is the bomb!

Scatterplot · 10/07/2012 13:15

How about:

Arya Bethany
Arya Bryony
Arya Jane
Arya Juliet
Arya Valerie
Arya Violet

I would avoid spelling a word with the initials and King, such as A S King, but you might not mind this.

theworldisoutthere · 10/07/2012 13:21

Scatterplot no I'm with you there, MIL's name is Jospehine King. People call her Jo. I shit ye not.

I like Arya Bryony because it brings in another of my fave literary characters Grin and Arya Jane definitely has a ring to it...

I like Arya Grace but can't help suggesting Arya Jo King Wink

johnnycomelurky · 10/07/2012 13:23

Hehe cross post. I know also know a Jo King

PenisVanLesbian · 10/07/2012 13:24

Arya? Jaysus, never take her to Ireland, I guarantee every person you meet will say "Are ya what?"

ErikNorseman · 10/07/2012 13:49

Arya is nice, but they way the Starks pronounce it in the series (Ah-ya) is a bit odd. Ar-ee-a is nicer.

cheesesarnie · 10/07/2012 13:52

are ya?
or poncy ah ya!

theworldisoutthere · 10/07/2012 14:04

PenisVanLesbian our northern relatives, who will ahve the same problem, will be instructed to pronounce it Ah-ree-ah lol Wink

Oh gosh johnnycomelurky the combintaion of the two is frightening! Grin

forevergreek · 10/07/2012 14:40

I always thought it was spelt Aria? And 'ah ree a' seems the logical way.But either way

Arya florence
Arya Theodora
Arya Harriet

Arianna for the long version

theworldisoutthere · 10/07/2012 14:50

forevergeek you're leeting the geek side down Wink it is from Game of Thrones, but the name/spelling is orginally Indian (the writer nicked it and changed it).

I know a baby Arya.

She is Arya Grace surname.

Sunscorch · 10/07/2012 14:55

This is only a resaonable name if you also get a dog.

Called Nymeria.

attheendoftheday · 10/07/2012 14:56

I prefer the spelling Arya and pronunciation ar-ya to ar-ee-a.

I admire you theworld as it's a great name, but I don't think I'd be brave enough to use it lest it mark my dd as child-of-geeks forever.

attheendoftheday · 10/07/2012 14:58

Is it easy to source a dire wolf to compliment you baby's name?

theworldisoutthere · 10/07/2012 15:01

Sunscorch I love you Grin

attheendoftheday would an alsatian work?? Also, my DD will be marked as a child-of-geeks no matter what, her name will be the least of her worries Wink
