Flora?
Willow?
I prefer Summer to Blossom.

oldqueenie · 24/06/2012 18:29

blossom is lovely. summer is a bit meh imo.

birdofthenorth · 24/06/2012 18:30

Both are nice, Blossom is more unusual. She can be a flash of warmth when introducing herself in winter Smile

noddyholder · 24/06/2012 18:30

I like blossom but would be hard to carry if you weren't very pretty Only imo though

TwllBach · 24/06/2012 18:31

I prefer Summer to Blossom.

bumbums · 24/06/2012 18:32

Summer I think. Not Blossom.

Flora is a lovely name.

nooka · 24/06/2012 18:38

In my mind Blossom is a term of endearment for a little girl and Summer is a season. Neither (as you might be able to guess!) are to my taste but I think that Blossom would be harder to carry as it comes with more associations (fine if your dd turns out to be a pretty, willowy, sunny sort of person, but really not very good if she is more of a rough and tumble no nonsense kind of person).

MammaTonic · 24/06/2012 18:38

Blossom is my NN for DD2 as she is an April baby. She was born just as the spring blossom bloomed :)

Yeh, go for Blossom. It's a good name :) x

Bunbaker · 24/06/2012 18:39

"In my mind Blossom is a term of endearment for a little girl and Summer is a season."

Sorry, but I agree.

noddyholder · 24/06/2012 18:41

Fleur is also pretty

Guava · 24/06/2012 18:46

AdventuresWithVoles · 24/06/2012 18:47

I can't decide if it's the loveliest name I ever heard, or just twee and awful...

...but what about Summer Blossom as first name and middle name.

BackforGood · 24/06/2012 19:31

Neither, but if it had to be one of those, then Summer.
Blossom is the kind of nn that people use like Petal, cherub, sweetie-pie and other things you'd be dead embarassed to hear your mother calling out across the park for you...

Stellan · 24/06/2012 19:32

Summer Blossom is ridiculous. Don't. Do. It.

Both are lovely sounding words and I can see why you'd like to use them as names. However, neither work well for an adult. If you must, go with Summer but, really, I think you ought to pick one and use it as a middle name.

Codeydoglove · 24/06/2012 19:35

Summer at a push but don't like.

cheesesarnie · 24/06/2012 19:36

i know a blossom - i love it Smile
i also know a summer but i'm not as keen.

NoComet · 24/06/2012 19:47

Summer, Blossom was the nn of our English teacher.

Never knew why, but the staff called her it too.

vodkaandcaviar · 24/06/2012 20:03

Not a huge fan of either but Summer would be preferable I'd say. Blossom might be a cute nickname, middle name or something but no one would ever take her seriously :/

I'm all for cutesy names but it's good if there are option for your child to use another variation of their name when they're older.

PorkyandBess · 24/06/2012 20:07

Both too saccharine for me, a bit nauseating.
