I really like Kyle. I think it has a nice sound, and I love the Scottish connections as I'm a big fan of Scottish names.
The Kyle I know is lovely, and not at all 'chavvy'.

Which unpopular names do you love?

I like Bridie and Dolly

creativepebble · 23/06/2012 23:37

Love the name Spike.

Tabitha's a cat's name though.

Martha. I LOVE it, anyone I told I was going to call my child it laughed their heads off :(

joanofarchitrave · 23/06/2012 23:46

Martha? Really? But that's not unusual!

steppemum · 23/06/2012 23:49

sebastian sounds gay because of Brideshead Revisited (now I have just shown how ancient I am)
But I love it too

I wanted Poppy and Daisy, my dh wouldn't even consider it, and then jamie Oliver used them both

jellytotsandcolabottles · 23/06/2012 23:56

I was nearly named Poppy... I would of prefered it.... but then I can't imagine a 43 yr old Poppy... or Daisy

manicinsomniac · 24/06/2012 03:07

I secretly love all the American names for girls

Madison, Taylor, Savannah, Bailey, Addison, Avery, Piper, Mackenzie, Kayley, Dakota etc

manicinsomniac · 24/06/2012 03:08

actually my love for Savannah is not so secret seeing as I used it (!) but hopefully it's one of the less hated on that list, I don't know

Ample · 24/06/2012 03:25

Pretty ordinary but I have liked the name Ashley for a girl ever since I was young (I'm a huge Gone With The Wind fan). I still like it but most people turn their noses up. I do know it's been ruined by a certain footballer. Can't think who else.

Lorelai. Received some strange looks when it's mentioned, I don't know why Sad

creativepebble · 24/06/2012 09:24

oo I love the name Savannah manic! Also the name Sienna.
I wish I had the guts to use names like Rainbow or Moon but my children would not thank me and it would say more about me than them!
Dylan for a boy? I'm not Welsh but it's a good name. Jenson is making a comeback which I like too.

creativepebble · 24/06/2012 09:29

Jolyon

happygilmore · 24/06/2012 19:51

I love Skye (love the place too) but everyone says it is "chavvy" now.

sailorsgal · 24/06/2012 20:25

I love Rupert for a boy and Gwendoline for a girl.

Dh wanted to call ds Boris Hmm

VickyandAlistair · 24/06/2012 20:34

I love Delphie for a girl

MoonlightandRoses · 24/06/2012 20:43

Dominica / Domenica
Petra (DH vetoed on the grounds of one of the Blue Peter dogs)
Valentine (for a boy - wasn't allowed that either...)

LiviaAugusta · 24/06/2012 20:50

I love the name Tallulah, it's the name of an older and very lovely family member but she hates it and would be a bit Hmm if we'd ever used it in her honour!

adviceadvice · 24/06/2012 21:08

Lucy. Love love love it. Really wanted to call dd Lucy but everyone I mentioned it to said it was too 'wishy washy' and weak. Wish I'd stuck to my guns!

Also loved Martha - l really like the Martha's Vineyard connection but again was told how awful a name it was.

Frikadellen · 24/06/2012 21:08

Colin and Neil. for boys..

Lakme' and Aida for girls.

smother · 25/06/2012 10:16

I think Martha is a bit of a marmite name.... on here, people seem split as to whether it's frumpy or cool

I love Rosie but have been told it's too cutesy for a grown up.

GnocchiNineDoors · 25/06/2012 10:18

I love Stella but everyone I know associates it with the lager and not a name.
