Stuart, George or Dominic?

What do you think? I don't think I've known any small children called Stuart since I was a child, but it was my Grandfather's name and he was amazing. Does it it sound odd for a baby now though? No special reason for George and Dominic, I just like them.

I like Thea for a girl.

They're all nice names :) George is my favourite of those, but the other two are quite underused and classic too.

manicinsomniac · 13/06/2012 23:36

George is my favourite. Dominic is ok. I'm not keen on Stuart but it could just be that unfamiliairty with little Stuarts.

Adore Thea

Stuart is well due a revival. I know a few aged 20-40 and without exception they are all lovely kid-hearted people :)

FoofFighter · 13/06/2012 23:37

*kind

missmiss · 13/06/2012 23:52

I like George and Dominic very much. Less keen on Sruart, but it would make a nice middle name: George Stuart? Dominic Stuart?

rachel234 · 14/06/2012 06:49

Agree Stuart is due a revival and yours will be ahead of the curve! Dominic is nice too but he may end up as Dom. George is very widely used already. So Stuart imo!

squoosh · 14/06/2012 11:28

Dominic - nice name
George - ok name
Stuart - strongly, strongly dislike. I feel like I know a million people called Stewart/Stuart.

PetShopGirl · 14/06/2012 13:24

Interesting. Quite mixed views but Stuart generally trailing in last place - I kind of thought that would be the case. I am quite tempted though, as I would love to honour my grandfather and I know it would make my family really happy (which I know isn't really the point but would be a very nice extra!). However I'm still slightly struggling with the idea of a little Stuart. Perhaps as someone suggested, using it as a middle name would be better.

I'm also starting to veer away from George, towards Dominic. My only issue with this is that our surname starts with a D. It ends with a Y and is a bit like Dudley (although there is no middle D, which I guess makes a slight difference). Would Dominic 'Dudley' sound a bit OTT? I think I quite like it...

Dominic wins by a long shot for me!

mrsbugsywugsy · 14/06/2012 15:53

Dominic Stuart Dudley sounds good to me

WithACherryOnTop · 14/06/2012 15:53

Dominic is lovely.
Stuart is very nice.
I don't like George at all.

HappyJoyful · 14/06/2012 15:55

Stewie.. for short. Stuart Little... isn't that a character in something ? he was nice ? I think if you love it go for it! Be brave!

George v.common / popular now I think.

Dominic was v.high up on my list.

HappyJoyful · 14/06/2012 15:57

Stewie Griffen - Family Guy...
Stuart Little - a charming adopted mouse..

Neither bad connections to me..

minipie · 14/06/2012 18:11

Dominic hands down.

PercyFilth · 14/06/2012 21:54

Stuart for me. Love it. Was my grandfather's name too.

Beamur · 14/06/2012 21:56

The only Stuart I can think of in RL is the biggest twat I've ever known! Stu is not the nicest nn either. Sorry.
Like George the best.

TheWave · 14/06/2012 22:19

Prefer Stuart. George boring.

aquashiv · 14/06/2012 22:52

Dominic love that name

jaquelinehyde · 14/06/2012 23:01

Love George

Hate Staurt (probably due to the only one I have known being a nasty woman beating fuckwit)

Meh @ Dominic

You must go with what you love though, every name in the world has been attached to a total twat at some point.

TuesdayNightClub · 14/06/2012 23:09

I know a four month old Stuart and he is absolutely lovely! Smile I like that it is a 'normal' name but unusual in that age group. Good strong name.

George I really dislike, I know hundreds of little boys called George and a few cantankerous old men too...

Dominic is really lovely.

EllenParsons · 15/06/2012 00:32

Definitely Dominic - I love it. It is not too popular, but a good classic. A brilliant name.

George also nice enough but a bit more boring than Dominic. Not keen on Stuart.

Beamur · 15/06/2012 12:57

jaquelinehyde - I wonder if it's the same one....
Agree with your other point too, just because a name is poisoned by association for some is their problem, not yours OP Smile

Littlecherublegs · 15/06/2012 12:59

Love Dominic - is on our shortlist!

Stuart is ok - dont know any under 30??!!

Not keen on George - quite popular and a little dull.

randomimposter · 15/06/2012 13:19

gosh what different names!

George my favourite by a long way. Stuart could work for a MN IMO.

Dominic's ok I guess.

ThisAintKansas · 15/06/2012 13:28

George is meh.

Stuart not nice.

Dominic lovely.
