I know it will date but I've decided that I definitely prefer names of now so at least I'm half way there. Thinking lucia is winning at the mo. What do you think? And any similar suggestions? Thankyou.

I love it.It works well at any age too imho.

lou4791 · 24/05/2012 20:03

Beautiful name. I hadn't thought of it as a 'now' name at all.

Psammead · 24/05/2012 20:06

I have one! We love it. You'd have to give some thought to the pronunciation, though, there are several.

kickingKcurlyC · 24/05/2012 20:07

A great name.

ZZZenAgain · 24/05/2012 20:08

I like it

Disneydreams · 24/05/2012 20:09

Ooh really Lou? That's good to know. I've only heard of it recently. Well psammead Not 100% but think loosha. How do you pronounce yours? And what are her siblings names, if she has any that is Grin

We say loo-SEE-ah, it's the South American pron.

She has no siblings yet (due October) but I love Penelope, Felicity, Francesca and Anja.

susiedaisy · 24/05/2012 20:14

Love it, I would pronounce it, Loo se ah!

ZZZenAgain · 24/05/2012 20:15

I would pronounce it Lou-CHI-a Italian style

Pitufina · 24/05/2012 20:16

I like it, I considered it for my daughter but went for Sofia in the end. I would pronounce it Loo-see-ah too.

LoonyRationalist · 24/05/2012 20:20

Nice name :) dd1 has it as her middle name with the Spanish pronunciation. (Lu Thea)

If I saw it in the uk I would guess at a Lu see ah. There is also the Italian pronunciation of Lu chee ah so you definitely need to decide how you want to say it! I don't think of it as a particularly now name though :) so it might not date as much as you think.

Disneydreams · 24/05/2012 20:23

Yeah I like loo-see-ah not so keen on loo-chi-ah but wouldn't be offended if someone did pronounce it that way. It really is a lovely name isn't it. Ah thanks psammead, was just curious Wink

That's lovely loony! Im really surprised people don't think of it as a now name, I thought it was quite new. But that's a bonus! Grin think this is the name!

My friend has a loo-SEE-ah. Lovely, and fairly unusual.

TooMuchFuckingPerspective · 24/05/2012 20:45

We have a Lucia and pronounce it LooSEEah. We find that quite a few people automatically pronounce it the Italian way (loo CHE ah). But we always say we absolutely don't mind how people pronounce it- actually sometimes I switch between the two. Or Loo Loo as a nick name. She is 2 now and calls herself See-ah.

Psammead · 24/05/2012 20:58

Ours is two as well and calls herself Sizzy. Grin

Disneydreams · 24/05/2012 21:13

Aw lovely. I love it. Thankyou for comments Grin you've sold it to me.

DD's middle name - we pronounce LU-CHEE-A (Italian version).

NurseBernard · 25/05/2012 02:56

It's a lovely name and one I will add to my every-increasing arsenal of names that I think won't date...!

ED1984 · 25/05/2012 08:39

It is our daughter's middle name, and I love it! Often wish we had used it as a first name even. I don't think of it as a name that would date at all - quite the opposite in fact.

SuzysZoo · 25/05/2012 21:27

It is a lovely name. My friend pronounces her version Loot -sea-er, so there are a lot of versions, clearly!

applepieinthesky · 25/05/2012 21:40

I love it and prefer the loo-see-ah pronounciation.

loobylu3 · 26/05/2012 16:14

Lovely name. I don't see it dating particularly as it has never been v popular.
I like the Loo- see-ah pronunciation the best.

turnigitonitshead · 26/05/2012 16:26

I have looseeah, I find some people pronounce it with a short see and longer ahh, which I love but it does not roll off my tongue that way. I tend to say with a longer see and shorter ah, if that makes any sence at all. My dd called her self seeaa beaa when little, very cute.

Shutupanddrive · 29/05/2012 17:10

Love it!
