We have a Lucia.

Just found out it might be a girl (she wasn't sure, but it's all we've got to go on)

So far I like

Felicity
Penelope
Tabitha (cat, I know, but we are in Germany so less of a problem)
Gabrielle
Josephine

Any more of that ilk? Have tried Nymbler, too.

Elspeth
Miranda
Miriam

CheerfulYank · 24/05/2012 09:14

I love Penelope! :)

Amelia? Adelaide? Hannah?

I have no idea where those names came from...they just flew out of my head. :o

Felicity is also rather nice.

RancerDoo · 24/05/2012 09:18

I like Penelope, I put it in the same bucket as Marion, Nancy, Audrey, Edith.

Oh, and Caroline.

Tabitha may be slightly problematic in Germany - none of my German family can manage "th".

oreocrumbs · 24/05/2012 09:20

Hermione?

I really like Felicity.

Thumbwitch · 24/05/2012 09:25

Ooo a girl, Psamme? lovely! I don't know yet, don't know if we will find out either, leaving it up to DH to decide.

Fenella
Persephone
Katrina
Do you like any of the Germanic names?
Gisela
Sabrina/Sabine

Just asked DH if he wants to know and he's said no - we'll leave it as a surprise again :)

Psammead · 24/05/2012 09:35

Well, the cord was in the way so she really couldn't tell but said she sort of wavered more to girl than boy.

I am just so desparate to think of names that I will take that! DH wouldn't even consider thinking about them without knowing, so I told him that now he has to Grin

The 'th' would be impossible, they would pronounce it as 'Ta-BEE-ta' but I can live with that difference.

Josephine would be more problematic as it would be yo-se-PHEE-neh. Not sure if I can live with that as it really is quite different. I'll have to let it grow on me.

Every second woman my age is named Sabine or Sabrina. It's a bit out of fashion for small babies now. Although it's very pretty.

Thanks for the suggestions!

Helena? Phyllida?

ChaosTrulyReigns · 24/05/2012 14:34

My cousin is Hesma - which is a totally beautifk name and I've never met another one.

BillyBollyBandy · 24/05/2012 14:36

Verity
Claudia

msbuggywinkle · 24/05/2012 14:38

My DD2 is Felicity, the other two are Helena and Miranda.

Psammead · 24/05/2012 14:41

Helena is lovely.

Hesma is unusual and nice, but is a bit similarish to the German word for ugly.

DP is German and we're thinking of Cecilia, Dorothea or Matilda for a girl.

I also like Beatrice, Matha or Liesel.

CakeBump · 24/05/2012 14:43

oops that should be Martha...

Psammead · 24/05/2012 14:57

Do you think Beatrice works in Germany? I like it a lot, but not sure how well known it is here. Ditto Dorothea.

CakeBump · 24/05/2012 14:59

We've got one in school, its pronounced bey-a-trice and she is bey-a (spelled Bea) for short.

I love it but DP isn't keen.

Dorothea is a German name afaik, pronounced Doro-tay-a.

Pasiphae · 24/05/2012 14:59

Cyrielle?

Psammead · 24/05/2012 15:03

Thanks, cake.

Harriet, Imogen, Matilda, Rosamund, Gisela, Helena, Cecily or Amanda

CakeBump · 24/05/2012 15:26

I love Cecily, but its impossible in German. That's what made us go for Cecilia instead.

Get0rfMoiLand · 24/05/2012 15:30

Sophia
Helena
Adelaide
Harriet
Marrianne

Your names are lovely. Tabitha especially.

redrubyshoes · 24/05/2012 16:43
