Ok, still struggling to settle on a name for ds3. This is about my fifth thread on the subject now!

We have a Dylan and a Miles..

We are now considering Travis Morgan

Surname starts with a D, 3 syllabils.

Opinions please!Smile

Dylan and Miles - lovely.

Travis Morgan - 2 surnames together so reminds me of Travis Perkins, the builders merchants. And can't get beyond thinking of the band Travis too. If I knew a little Travis I might grow to like it but I find it a hard one in the abstract.

DairyNips · 14/05/2012 23:29

Ooh not heard of that company! Hmm yes, I suppose it is like 2 surnames.. Travis does make me think of the band although they're not about much anymore so that doesn't bother me as such..

We did like Harrison but can't decide on a middle name. Ugh, why is choosing a name so hard!Grin

Travis Perkins for me too, thought 'builders merchant' straightaway.

They're all surnames, aren't they. Why not look at some straightforward forenames?

PacketOfBiscuits · 15/05/2012 00:40

Yep, Travis Perkins I'm afraid!

Harrison is nice. Harrison Travis?

tethersend · 15/05/2012 00:52

Love Travis.

lisaro · 15/05/2012 00:53

Will he have a mullet and sparkly earring? They would go beautifully with those names.

ChippingIn · 15/05/2012 00:55

Sorry - I don't like Travis, personal reasons - but I just couldn't name a boy that :(

Harrison is nice though - my friends nephew is Harrison and he is absolutely gorgeous!

Janoschi · 15/05/2012 01:09

I know a wee Travis. I also know an amazing young man Travis too. It's a fab name.

tethersend · 15/05/2012 09:52

Chipping- I love it for personal reasons too... Hope it's not the same Travis!

rachel234 · 15/05/2012 09:54

How about Travis Alexander? I think Dylan, Miles and Travis sound great together!

DairyNips · 15/05/2012 10:33

Is Travis Perkins a company down south or something? I've honesty never heard of it! We live oop north (almost in Scotland). I don't really mind if it does sound like a company as we won't be using his middle name on a daily basis, so it'll be Travis D........ (our surname).

I don't think he'll have an earring, no Grin

I happen to like names that sound like surnames, I think they're cool..

DairyNips · 15/05/2012 10:35

Harrison Travis is nice but when you say it with our surname it doesn't really flow.

OP posts:
DairyNips · 15/05/2012 10:38

Just had a look, there are Travis Perkins' round here!Grin

Regardless, it's not really a problem to me, Morgan is a completely different word to Perkins isn't it.. I could understand if we were actually going to call ds Travis PerkinsGrin

I find surname type names really naff so we clearly have different taste. But I too thought of Travis Perkins. Two surnames together screams No Win No Fee.

I know two young Morgans. Both girls.

Stellan · 15/05/2012 10:40

You like Travis and you like Harrison so why not Harris? Dylan, Miles, and Harris.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Francis.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Trevor.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Ewan.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Rowan.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Dashiell.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Declan.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Evan.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Gareth.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Rhys.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Holden - bit like Harrison?

Or Dylan, Miles, and Nathan.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Malcolm.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Lewis or Louis.

Or Dylan, Miles, and Jonas.

DairyNips · 15/05/2012 10:53

Clearly showSmile

Yeah, I know a Morgan who is a girl too but then there's also Morgan Freeman who's super cool..

stellan Harris just reminds me of the people who make paint brushes.. Sorry! Holden just reminds me of Amanda Holden and I find her really annoyingGrin

Travis Morgan sounds like a merchant bank. And how come nobody has mentioned Travis Bickle in Taxi Driver?

GnocchiNineDoors · 15/05/2012 15:53

Travis is my 'boy name' but DD was a girl so we'll have to keep it.

I know one, and he is without a doubt the coolest kid I have ever met (and I worked with kids for a few years). Not saying it's down to the name, but it does give it a nice meaning for us.

I also know a (boy) Morgan who is wonderful and I've never known anyone question whether he has a girls name.

I never think about first-name middle-name matching-ness as when do you ever really say them all together anyways? My DD has a first name that we loved and a middle name that was our second favourite. I have never once thought whether they 'go'.

MoonHare · 15/05/2012 16:50

Definitely sounds like two surnames - and Harrison is yet another surname. Morgan is unisex but that may not bother you.

Personally not keen on any of them but if you like them than why not go for Travis or Morgan or Harrision but with a middle name that's a 'proper' boys name rather than a surname?

Travis makes me think of Taxi Driver (Travis Bickle), not necessarily brilliant connotations for a boys name, depending on your view of the character of course.

DaisyMaisyJessicaEmily · 15/05/2012 16:53

I know a toddler Travis :) I think it's a lovely name and should be used more but not too often!

DairyNips · 15/05/2012 17:32

Um, it really doesn't bother me that they sound like surnames and I am equally not concerned about giving him a 'proper' name..

I'm just choosing the names I like the sound ofSmile

Not watched taxi driver so no connotations from that for me.

I really don't think of Morgan as a surname anyway. I can only think of people with it as a first name.

OP posts:
DairyNips · 15/05/2012 17:34

Oh and Harrison, yes, that can be a surname but it is Harrison Ford's first name. So, you see, it doesn't really matter (to meWink)

debijon11 · 15/05/2012 17:34

Morgan orignially is a welsh boys name meaning 'white sea' or bright sea'. Mor is sea in welsh.
I think that Travis Morgan is a lovely name :)

debijon11 · 15/05/2012 17:37

Oooh and just looked up Travis, it's a Scottish form of Thomas, so not two surnames after all.

3littlerabbits · 15/05/2012 17:48

I like Travis. Sounds good with your other boys names too.
