Names like Alice?

I'm 36 wks and love the name Alice but DP's sister (though not pregnant and not planning to be soon) really wants it. DP and his ex-wife already used the grandmothers name which his sister really wanted so I'd feel bad for stealing this one too! Are there any similar names you can think of other than Alicia - too similar and too American sounding for me.

I will say what others will be thinking: Use Alice if you really want to. She may never have a girl and no-one can reserve a name.

My favourite girls name at the moment is Tilly. I love it!

She has fertility issues though so I feel like stealing it is saying she'll never have kids...daft I know but that's how she'd see it. I like Tilly too but DD is Ellie so it's a bit similar! Quite like Elsie, but same problem again.

Long shot but what about Wallis? (as in Edward and Mrs Simpson)

Use Alice. I was warned off Grace when pregnant with my first. SIL wanted it apparently. She has just had her first and not used it...luckily I didn't want to use it anyway.

OH liked Alice for DD1 but someone in our family has used it, so we went for Iris instead which sounds quite similar.

If you really love it then it seems a shame not to use it. Your sis in law may end up having a boy! Could you maybe discuss it again with her?

Other names I liked were Charlotte, Emily, Emilia, Alexa, Millie, Olivia, Cara, Isla, Isabella and Elsa.

olivia is lovely
