These are DP's latest suggestions for girls names! Liking Lois and Esme... what do you think?

Esme really popular at the moment.

I love Rita.

LeBOF · 01/05/2012 11:20

I think you need to have quads and use all of them- it sounds like a really cool sixties girl group.

NenNen · 01/05/2012 11:22

Ooh I like Lois. Very cool.

ripsishere · 01/05/2012 11:23

Lois and Esme are great, Rita and Audrey are on Coronation street.

tara0202 · 01/05/2012 11:25

Lois and esme are nice names. Sorry but you can't saddle a little girl with a terrible.name like Audrey or Rita!

lancelottie · 01/05/2012 11:33

See, I like Audrey, as I know a particularly beautiful and charming one. Also like Lois, who was my favourite not-quite-cousin as a child. Rita sounds like a shortening for something else to me, and Esme I can take or leave.

FateLovesTheFearless · 01/05/2012 11:34

I have an Elsie, she really suits it too! Esme is nice and lois!

EdithWeston · 01/05/2012 11:43

I like Lois best.

Audrey and Rita are very Corrie.

manicinsomniac · 01/05/2012 11:53

Audrey - I really hate this name. It's still very popular in US (top 100 for several years I think) but I've never heard it on a child over here.

Lois - not keen but it's ok

Esme - Very pretty, really like it

Rita - Quite nice, never heard it on a child.

RickGhastley · 01/05/2012 11:58

Rita is just too old lady for me - and I love old lady names!

The other 3 are lovely. Audrey and Lois are my favourites.

BTW Esme is very popular here (London) at the mo, I know 3 baby Esmes (pronounced Ez-may)

FondleWithCare · 01/05/2012 12:32

Audrey- hate it
Lois- lovely
Rita- far too old lady
Esme- pretty but very popular

Beamur · 01/05/2012 12:33

Esme - yes, Lois - at a push.
Rita & Audrey - don't like them myself.

crazynanna · 01/05/2012 12:37

I have a Lois Smile But we call her Lolly Confused

BorisJohnsonsHair · 01/05/2012 12:39

I love Rita - due a come-back. Everyone knows it, knows how to spell it, yet not at all common. I think it's really pretty and would be my choice if I was having a another baby. Girl baby, obviously Grin

BorisJohnsonsHair · 01/05/2012 12:40

Also love Pearl and Miriam, in case you needed any more suggestions!

JuliaScurr · 01/05/2012 12:41

Audrey (Hepburn)

loopydoo · 01/05/2012 12:48

My nan is called Audrey and it very much suits her and everyone shortens it to Aud but growing up, I did think it sounded old fashioned.

I like Esme but out of your list, I think Lois is the prettiest.

birdofthenorth · 01/05/2012 12:50

Thanks everyone. Honor is anothr contender, but I think Lois is pipping it for me today!

I love Audrey. It was nearly DD2's middle name but DP got his mother's name in there instead (Jane). Rubbish.

I was at school with a couple of girls called Lois so it just reminds me of them. Esme is nice but popular around here. Rita is cute actually.

Honor is fab!

RickGhastley · 01/05/2012 13:01

Oooh I love Honor!

Haberdashery · 01/05/2012 13:14

Audrey, Lois and Esme are great. LOVE Honor. I don't like Rita at all.

YouFloatLikeAFeather · 01/05/2012 13:35

Lois is really pretty - love it
Esme and Rita are ok
Audrey is dreadful, sorry

Also love Honor. But Lois is my favourite

Positiveplus · 01/05/2012 13:37

Lois is fab!

Dont like Esme (which is pretty popular) and Audrey and Rita are just too old lady-ish!

Not keen on Honour either, sorry.

DidntGetTheMemo · 01/05/2012 15:56

Lois is great. The rest arent.

pressingbuttons · 02/05/2012 07:38

I think Lois is great- Dh vetoed it for DD :( it's 'refreshing' amongst all the usual suspects suggested on MN.
Audrey would be next on the list...then
Rita
Esme
Honor
How about Nina or Vivian?
