These are DP's latest suggestions for girls names! Liking Lois and Esme... what do you think?

I think they are all really dreary, OP!

Pressingbuttons -I love Nina actually but DH has vetoed it as his "school bully" had the name! My next door neighbour growing up was a male Vivian which has slightly ruined that for me which is a shame as it's a gorgeous name.

Any more suggestions along similar lines?

Bonsoir, take the dreary point on Audrey and Rita, but is Lois really dreary?

Lois or Esme, both lovely. Also love nina. Honor next. Don't like AUdrey or Rita particularly.

Esmé is a French name which came into use in Scotland when Mary's court came over from France. It was originally a mans name, but has been used for females for hundreds of years too.
I bloody hate Twilight for making such a lovely unusual name so popular.

mummybare · 02/05/2012 15:17

I love Rita (would be on my list if both my and DH's names didn't begin with R).
Lois and Audrey are quite nice as well.
Esme is ok, but wouldn't be my choice.

Alligatorpie · 02/05/2012 17:04

I love Esme.

RillaBlythe · 02/05/2012 17:43

What about Greta?

DottieRose · 02/05/2012 18:02

Love Esme

missingmymarbles · 02/05/2012 18:07

Lois is nice, but Esme is lovely Smile Not keen on the other two.

nowwearefour · 02/05/2012 18:08

Lois or Esme. Lois particularly gorgeous name

Rhubarbgarden · 02/05/2012 22:25

I have a little Audrey. I love it (obviously).

cece · 02/05/2012 22:32

I have an Esme. Also like Lois, Audrey and Honor.

Other names we had lined up for our other DC were, Verity, Anna, Annie, Thea and Una.

pressingbuttons · 02/05/2012 23:58

ok....here goes... ( cece like Thea and Una btw)
Fiona,
Lorna (love this but couldn't use it)
Celia
Liesel
Fay(e)
Kirsty
Cara
Vida
Gail (just slipped this one in; it's not my name Blush not Abigail just Gail
It's so tricky trying to think of names that are similar...have to go and rest my brain now.

mathanxiety · 03/05/2012 18:23

I love Rita and Honor.
Audrey is lovely too imo (I put it in the same category as Cynthia and Sylvia -- names I associate with the style of the 1930s)

Esme is nice but I associate it with rosewater.

I think Lois is dreary -- makes me think of draughty church halls.

Judging by the responses you seem to have gathered a selection of marmitey names.

I like them all apart from Rita. I might steal Lois!
