Poor DS2 is 5 weeks and still nameless!

For anyone following the saga, our surname is Cummings and we were going to go with Barnaby (nn Barney) but somehow didn't use it so it hasn't stuck. We still might well go with it but an alternative has popped up - Rex. Similar to Max which we liked but hopefully without sounding rude?

I'd appreciate any honest opinions please!

dont know how that can happen.....surely after 5 weeks you have an inkling of a name that he should be called?

Thanks for all the suggestions - unfortunately DH doesn't like Ben/Dexter/Zac/Charlie. Leo OK but not wow. Rob a family name, can't have Tom as DH is Tim

I like Rex the best out of those 3, and Barney the least.

Rex Cummings sounds a bit naughty to me too. Sorry, it's a hard surname to work with.

wow names are not good as you go of them, stick to good names that will last - like Leo. It will be timeless.

Oh no! You made the mistake of asking for people's opinions- I did that too and it made me feel terrible about my final choice (George) as everyone seemed to hate it. I did it anyway though as every name I picked people seemed to have something negative to say. I'm a primary school teacher and I've never had a 'Rex' so if you want unusual then that's probably the one. Personally I love the name Barney - all the Barneys I've come across have been middle class and super intelligent if that's what you're going for!

Oh Anonymousse I really feel for you as DP and I were in a similar position with our DS.

We changed the name we were going to use because as well as other issues it was being mispronounced. We really did pushed it to the wire -6 weeks! Though in that time, as you can imagine, he had an abundance of very affectionate nn

I dont think the dog thing will be an issue but I do think that 3 to 7 yr olds may fix on 'T Rex' and he may be teased.I am another who loves Barnaby although Barney is yet another dinosaur of course!

Aaron, no idea why it just popped in to my head. DF has a now teen Aaron and I've always liked the name.

Normally I like Rex but Rex Cummings kinda sounds like a porn star.
Personally I think Barnaby is horrible but theres nothing wrong with the name I just don't like it.

I agree with others on Cummings. THIS is the problem name, not the first names you like. Give the child your surname and choose MAX!

I still like Max, less keen on Rex.
