Nancy - Thoughts?

I have a gut feeling we are having a Boy so have said DH can name Baby if a Girl ;-)

At 41 weeks he has switched from Eleanor Kate Morgan to Nancy Kate Morgan - I am cool with it as I think they are both pretty names and it is so nice to have the weight off my shoulders.
It will not make a difference but it is nice to get outsider opinions sometimes.

Nancy is a TERRIBLE name, don't do it! it's top of my list

Best stick with Eleanor Grin

CanCant · 18/04/2012 14:40

i love both!

maydaychild · 18/04/2012 14:43

If my DS had been a girl he would have been Nancy
Great choice

clinkingIceCubes · 18/04/2012 14:44

Eleanor is my DD2's 1st name and I love it. But I also love Nancy - I always wanted to be Nancy in Swallows and Amazons. Didn't occur to me as a name for either DD for some strange reason, but absolutely love it.

Think you can't go wrong either way

would it be bad to try and have another girl to have a 'Nancy'? Grin

MaryChalloner · 18/04/2012 14:48

I love Eleanor and Nancy and have both of them on my list for my dc due in a few weeks. Sorry that's not much help!

I would prefer Nancy I think if it was short for something - but can only think of Agnes or Anne and am not sure of those.

Russianred · 18/04/2012 14:51

I have an 18m Nancy and have always been complimented (that sounds odd, but ykwim) on her name. I (obviously) love it.

FluffStar · 18/04/2012 14:51

Nancy is beautiful. Don't know anybody with that name either.

That's all.

Ali2girls · 19/04/2012 22:05

Nancy is a great name - Eleanor always gets shorted to Ellie which I'm not so keen on :)

LulaPalooza · 19/04/2012 22:06

One of the nicest people I know is called Nancy. It completely changed my opinion of the name.

SkinnyVanillaLatte · 19/04/2012 22:06

I love Nancy.

LulaPalooza · 19/04/2012 22:07

As in, I always used to think it was a bit dull and meh, but now I really like it.

missingmymarbles · 19/04/2012 22:09

I don't like Nancy at all, it sounds like a middle aged American Housewife name to me. And not elegant imo.

Eleanor or Eleonora, on the other hand, is feminine and beautiful to my ears. Also works very well in other languages (which Nancy does not imo).

SLVC · 21/04/2012 17:14

I much prefer Nancy, it's a great name. Never been a fan of the "Elle/Ellie" names..

BuntyPenfold · 21/04/2012 17:17

I love Nancy, top of my list.

winkle2 · 22/04/2012 22:33
