What to do when your DP has totally different name tastes :(

Surname is very similar to Hemming.

He likes (In preference):
Joshua Hemming
Jake Hemming
Abby Hemming
Ashley Hemming
(he has also suggested Ryder and Bryce for girls)

I have nothing against the names he has picked, but I prefer stronger "power" names. How did you reach a conclusion with your DP, because really I just want to stamp my foot and say, "mine are better!"

Welcome to my world. DH and I had nine months of hell. We hated each other's names and there was no common ground. Eventually we settled on an ok name but it wasn't one that either of us loved. She's 12 weeks old now and the name I love still makes me sad when I hear it anywhere. We used it as a middle name but it's not the same.

I agree with not pulling rank though. Lots of people suggested that to me but it wasn't fair. He would have caved in and I would have felt really guilty. It would have spoilt the name for me.

Me and my OH had the same problem...you just need to look at more names until you can find a compromise....this website is v good...it gives you and your oh two separate lists of names and let's you compare which you both like...really helped us anyway!
