Congratulations! I love the name Rafferty, also quite like Benedict (nn Ben) and Arthur Smile

SomebodySaveMe · 04/04/2012 23:34

Rafferty is lovely Smile

SomebodySaveMe · 04/04/2012 23:34

And congrats!

PineappleBed · 04/04/2012 23:35

Arthur or Edmund I think

hellymelly · 04/04/2012 23:35

I think Bede might be a bit harsh but like all the others. I particularly like Edmund for some reason, it is a beautiful name.

pinkyp · 04/04/2012 23:36

Edward!

aprilfoolsbaby · 04/04/2012 23:37

Thanks. He is so lovely and I hated telling everyone he had arrived without a name.

DH likes Ezra. I liked esmund but that didn't even make it to the short list.

I feel like I can't think straight and I'm nervous about deciding.

I like Edward and Arthur!

Congratulations!

LittleFrieda · 04/04/2012 23:56

I love Ezra.

mummybare · 04/04/2012 23:57

Congratulations! And some lovely names there. Rafferty is fantastic, and I also like Benedict, Arthur and Jasper.

effingwotsits · 04/04/2012 23:58

Jasper and Arthur are fantastic names!

Janoschi · 05/04/2012 00:00

EZRA!!!

I know a wonderful man called Ezra.

Not that that has any bearing on it but I smile when I see the name.

Congrats!!

AwkwardMaryHadAnEasterLamb · 05/04/2012 00:06

I like Bede and Edmund.

[classical]

TerraNotSoFirma · 05/04/2012 00:11

Rafferty is the one that jumped out at me from your list, Great name.

kipperandtiger · 05/04/2012 00:12

I like Edmund. But why don't you think over it for a little while? You don't have to register the birth just yet. Congratulations by the way!!

MoonlightandRoses · 05/04/2012 00:14

Firstly congratulations! Secondly think either Jasper or Edmund would be lovely.

aprilfoolsbaby · 05/04/2012 00:23

Thanks for all your comments and for being kind! Out of interest, are there any that you think are too pretentious or any that won't 'fit' through his life regardless of what he decides to do?

OP posts:
MoonlightandRoses · 05/04/2012 00:30

Don't think so, once you associate the name with him, then anything he does will 'fit' that. If you mean 'will it look funny a his CV for legal/academe/stunt-man/nurse/IT?'
I would say no - they are all strong names (although he may have a spot of explaining with Bede if people he meets aren't familiar with "the Venerable..." Smile

MonsterBookOfTysons · 05/04/2012 00:31

I like Jasper.
Congratulations :)

Clary · 05/04/2012 00:33

I love Arthur as I have posted many times before Grin

I know one pretty well and he loves his name, likes being the only one he knows. No-one ever abbreviates it either if that matters to you.

Jasper I also like tho my dad used to call wasps that!

Benedict is good and Ben is a safe haven if he doesn't like the full version; Edmund I also love (Edwin, Edward etc are gettign popular now). Ezra and Bede are a bit out there IMO.

Rafferty...hmmm, a bit surnamey for my taste, and yet, and yet...I know a lad whose surname this is, but a rellie of his has it as a middle name and I rather like it! Sounds like raffish, in a good way, a bit devil may care and handsome, like Jude Law mmmmm!

seashore · 05/04/2012 00:37

Always loved the name Ezra since reading Anne Tyler's Dinner at the Homesick Restaurant many yrs ago. Just reread it recently.

emmyloo2 · 05/04/2012 03:01

Great names! Love them!!

Jasper - I love this name and would like it if I ever have a DS2
Benedict - not as keen but nice enough....
Rafferty - like this
Bede - I am not sure how to pronounce this so wouldn't choose this
Arthur - absolute favourite! This is our current choice for DS2 (should we have one) definitely the best!
Edmund - love this!
Ezra - not as keen

So eithe Jasper, Arthur or Edmund for me!
