I love 2 of them, DH loves the other 2... Opinions please! Expecting DD4 and we've run out names we can both agree on!

Like hazel, Charlotte ok other two a no for me.

MagsAloof · 31/03/2012 17:18

I love Hazel. Well overdue a comeback.

Mabel is not my cp of tea. Its desperately try-hard 'old lady chic'.\

Charlotte is lovely, but very safe. Depends on your tastes.

Hetty is sweet, but as a nickname for Henrietta or Harriet.

LaDiDaDi · 31/03/2012 17:18

Love Mabel and Charlotte

IAmYourSingingTelegram · 31/03/2012 17:25

Hazel is lovely. My favorite.
Charlotte is nice.
Mabel is horrid.
Hetty is a cute nickname, but I can't decide if it works as a first name or it. I like it anyway.

DoubleGlazing · 31/03/2012 17:38

I'm afraid I'd say Hetty, Mabel and Hazel are "old lady names not due a comeback", sorry!

Charlotte is quite nice.

EdithWeston · 31/03/2012 17:40

I love the name Hetty (though I'd probably have it as a nn for Harriet or Henrietta) and Charlotte.

I find Mabel a little dull, and Hazel has a very different "feel" to the other names.

upsydaisyboo · 31/03/2012 18:11

Our other 3 daughters all have quite 'Granny-ish' names - Beatrice, Rose, Iris -so want a name which will fit with them.

Charlotte - nice, but boring and very popular?
Mabel - beautiful, but trying a bit too hard?
Hazel - no obvious nickname?
Hetty - any ideas apart from Harriet / Henrietta for the full name?

How about Mehitabel? A fantastic name, and it more or less combines two of your options.

pixiestix · 31/03/2012 18:17

Hester? I love Hetty but I'm not sure that it goes with your other names without a "proper" long version to fall back on.

RetroMum1 · 31/03/2012 18:42

My favourite is Mabel followed by Hetty. I like Charlotte if abbreviated to Lottie but I'm not keen on Hazel.

thelamb · 31/03/2012 19:04

I love Hetty and think it can stand alone as a first name but Im not keen on Mabel & Hazel, my DD is a Clara :)

HamblesHandbag · 31/03/2012 19:59

Hazel! Brilliant name.

Definitely.

I know a wonderful Hazel, (30+) and we call her Haze Smile

Tricksterfrickster · 31/03/2012 20:27

I think Mabel goes really well with your other girl's names which are lovely. I like Hetty too, though for some reason in my mind I think of it as being the shortened form of either Harriet or Henrietta but I'm sure it's a name in its own right (like Molly is now).

BeaditAli · 31/03/2012 20:37

Hazel and Hetty (but as a nn)are my faves. My sister is Hazel and it was only shortened in later life to Hazie B and Haze which really suit a 20+ and it is such a sweet name for a little girl on it's own!
Never really like Charlotte, sorry..... Just think it's a bit nothing though do quite like the nn 'Lottie'

BeaditAli · 31/03/2012 20:37

Which sounds the best with the other DCs' names?

FondleWithCare · 31/03/2012 22:04

I like Charlotte then Hazel. Hetty is a nickname and Mabel is horrible IMO.

welovesausagedogs · 31/03/2012 22:13

Like Hetty if it's a nickname for Henrietta, Harriet/Hatty is really nice too. Like charlotte with the nickname Lotte.

To me Mabel seems to much like a pets name, and i just can't really imagine a child called Hazel, i know to many women my mums age with this name.

BuntyPenfold · 31/03/2012 22:53

I like Mabel, and I don't see how on earth it is try-hard.
I love Henrietta/Hetty/Henny/Hattie :)

Chewbecca · 31/03/2012 22:58

I think Hetty is good but as a nick name. I assumed it was short for Hepzibah.

LadyWidmerpool · 01/04/2012 01:06

I think Mabel is ugly and faddy. It was my grandma's middle name and she hated it. Her first name was Dora which I think is lovely!

CheerfulYank · 01/04/2012 04:20

I love Mabel! Also Melba, which was my grandmother's name.

Charlotte is lovely but very "safe", as someone said.

Hazel is all right. I'm neutral on it.

Hetty is okay; I prefer Hattie.

Congrats! :)

devonsmummy · 01/04/2012 06:19

Mabel & Hetty I love
Charlotte neither like nor dislike - love Lottie though
Dislike hazel

devonsmummy · 01/04/2012 06:23

The only Iris I know had a sister called Ava

How about
Annie
Bessie
Elsie
Florence
Maisie
Nancy
Posy

nooka · 01/04/2012 06:32

I think that Hazel is a bit 70ish, plus with two flowers in the family perhaps a bit OTT on the nature side?

I'm also not keen on Hetty as a full name, especially as your other dd's have quite strong sounding names (which I like). If you don't like Henrietta or Harriet, then Hester/Esther or Heather maybe?

CremeEggThief · 01/04/2012 14:56

I love Hazel and I like Charlotte, but more as a middle name. I am not keen on Hetty, Henrietta or Harriet and I loathe Mabel.
