Hit me with Welsh boys names

Really struggling to find a Welsh boy's name that we like, I've been through them all just about, and while I like some, they all have drawbacks. DS has got the one boy's name we liked and works for our wider family (pronunciation and so on).

Be grateful for suggestions other than what's in the Heini Gruffudd welsh names for children book.

Diolch / thanks

Estlin.

I taught a little Llifon once, and a Huw. But Huw would definitely end up being Hugh!

I've not heard some of these names before, and I've really struggled finding welsh boys names. DPs father is Elwyn and DP really likes Dylan.

madaboutmadmen · 31/03/2012 21:39

Dylan is lovely but would inevitably end up being pronounced 'Dillon' instead of 'DullANN', which makes it a completely different name to me. Friend of
mine loved Llifon, then called her little boy Alfie, still trying to work that out.....

DP sulked about dylan for ages because I categorically said no. I don't like the welsh or English version, and my English friends and family would insist on saying 'Dillon' so it wouldn't be worth the hassle Grin

Girls names are much easier.

Aneirin Hedd is lovely.

Much much easier, thanks, it's really growing on me now too Smile

What about Lleucu?

mejon · 02/04/2012 20:05

Lovely name IwishIwasmoreorganised - but it is the Welsh version of Lucy Wink!

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 02/04/2012 21:35

Oh! There was a 6/7 year old boy named Lleucu at our regional Urdd Eisteddfod!

LingDiLong · 02/04/2012 22:07

How about Iago? DD had a Taran in her class which I thought was a bit odd at first but it really grew on me.

Really love Aneirin though too.

IwishIwasmoreorganised · 02/04/2012 22:08

The only Taran that I've ever met was a girl!

Migsy1 · 02/04/2012 22:12

Dewi

LingDiLong · 02/04/2012 22:12

Iwish, you're in some kind of gender reversed parallel universe lol!! I think Taran sort of suits a boy more, not sure why though as I've only met 1 too.

SilkStalkings · 02/04/2012 22:48

Caeo (pron K-eye-o)
Eiron (don't know if pron Eye-REE-on or EYE-reeon?)

SilkStalkings · 02/04/2012 22:49

Doh, Eirion not Eiron.
