Is it a little bit twee? Does it remind you of the little Sylvanian beaver? Or is it a perfectly 'acceptable' girl's name?

UnChartered · 28/03/2012 16:46

it reminds me of exMILs dog

scurryfunge · 28/03/2012 16:48

I reminds me of a comic from the 1970s- quite like it.

LineRunner · 28/03/2012 16:49

Play Misty For Me.

Labootin · 28/03/2012 16:52

thisisyesterday · 28/03/2012 16:53

Twee - for sure, i really dislike it

skirt · 28/03/2012 17:16

It reminds me of Jill Wins a Pony shows age

goodsenseofdirection · 28/03/2012 17:18

A friend's GF is called Misty... I can't quite get used to it and i always think of her as a bit hippy/loopy/airy fairy although she's not really. She is actually lovely and pretty grounded but the name is deceptive.

AnEcumenicalMatter · 28/03/2012 17:19

It's a dog's name.

FoofFighter · 28/03/2012 17:21

Maybe it's the hormones but I am going to steal it like it :)

CupOfBrownJoy · 28/03/2012 17:23

Its a pony's name. Or a dog.

SoupDragon · 28/03/2012 17:27

It's a fluffy wuffy nothing kind of name.

iklboo · 28/03/2012 17:34

There's a swimmer called Misty Hyman isn't there?

4paws · 28/03/2012 17:37

It's a lovely name for your kitten/puppy/pony.

You really didn't mean baby did you?

babyblabber · 28/03/2012 17:47

i would agree, it's a pony's name.

lisaro · 28/03/2012 17:56

It's not twee - it's (to my ears, fair enough) ridiculous. At best it's a name for a pet. And I also remember the comic. Please don't set an innocent little child up for a lifetime of funny looks or worse, comments. You may think that would be wrong, and yes, it would, but this isn't an ideal world, and it would happen.

fuckityfuckfuckfuck · 28/03/2012 17:57

It was my budgie's name. Not one to use on an actual human.

VickityBoo · 28/03/2012 17:59

A family members (no longer with us) cat in afraid

MistyMountainHop · 28/03/2012 18:00

missmiss · 28/03/2012 18:01

American trophy wife.

PrincessPrecious · 28/03/2012 18:01

Definitely a pets name.

PercyFilth · 28/03/2012 18:02

Pony

BelleTheBeatnik · 28/03/2012 18:23

Don't worry! It's not for my baby. My pregnant friend mentioned today, and I didn't really know what to say, particularly as the only other baby name she's previously mentioned is extremely common, so I was quite surprised!

I said it's a bit like Coco et al - like Marmite. IMO it's cute for a baby and lovely on someone with model looks, but downright awful on your Average Josephine, iyswim. However, there's seems to be a general consensus that it's too pet-like, so I may have to steer her away from poor Misty and the common name! Grin

It's a perfectly recognised top 300 name in America.

I wouldn't be brave enough to use it but do think it's quite cute
