Hello
Rosie is 10 days old.She needs a first middle name. Her complete name is Rosie xxx Garnett Reed. Garnett being my maiden name, but her 3rd name not part of her surname. We are toying with abigail, I'm not sure. I also like Alice, emily, although emily is a bit like Rosie with the ie ending . Dh has vetoed in any event. Any other suggestions? Please!

onadifferentplanet · 24/03/2012 09:26

I think its nice as it is not sure you need another name in there

NagoosBeenCleaningWindows · 24/03/2012 09:26

May is a boring middle name. It's the modern Louise. [opinionated]

I like Abigail. It breaks up the Rosie Reed RRRRRRRRR thing nicely. Choose that :)

threeleftfeet · 24/03/2012 09:29

May is a tad overused IMO (sorry!)

Abigail and Alice are really nice.

tentative123 · 24/03/2012 11:40

I'm a def no for may, and I think it needs to be a bit long lee to break up the sounds we have already. Any other options?

My sister (34) is Rosie Jess, which I've always thought was lovely

poppydaisy · 24/03/2012 12:40

I agree - May (and Rose) are the Louise of the 1970s.

poppydaisy · 24/03/2012 12:41

Is Rosie a Rosemary or just Rosie?

If Rosemary, how about Rosemary Alice Garnett Reed - that is beautiful imo.

My DDs middle names are Mary Alys - an old family spelling of Alice - which I think is really pretty.

Rosie Alys?

If you're saying it as a 'phrase', Rosie probably fits better with a single syllable name - but you'll not be shouting her full name....!

You could always switch her names round and use Rosie as the middle name - but call her that day to day - and then give a diff first name. It might phrase better that way. I know quite a few people who use second names rather than their first name. In fact one uses her third!

SoozyWoozy · 24/03/2012 19:28

My Rosie is Rosie Ellen :) but does get called Rosie Posie!

My eldest daughter has Mae as her middle name - May is used lots but it was an important family connection and so I wanted to use it. I would've also used Rosie Mae.

Do you have a grandmother's name you like?

OlympicEater · 24/03/2012 19:34

I know a Rosie Elizabeth and a Rosie Jean.

SnapSnafu · 24/03/2012 19:37

Why bother? Rosie Garnett Reed sounds great to me. Nice initials too.
My middle name is my grandmother's maiden name.
