FilterCoffee · 03/03/2012 12:25

Not keen, sorry.

WindUpBird · 03/03/2012 18:05

I know a grown-up Bryony and she's lovely and she suits her name.

ilovegreenbeans · 03/03/2012 18:49

i love it. And also Briony.

SlinkingOutsideInFrocks · 03/03/2012 19:27

I really like it.

I know of a 40-something Bryony and it sounds so refreshing.

greenandcabbagelooking · 03/03/2012 21:48

Love it, it's my best friend's name

Iheartpasties · 03/03/2012 21:58

i hate it, sorry. sounds like brian-e.

greencat23 · 03/03/2012 22:02

Sorry dont like it.

GoldenDaffodil · 03/03/2012 23:16

I love it and it would have made my shortlist if DH had been as keen as me. In my opinion it sounds pretty and feminine.

marshmallowpies · 05/03/2012 17:18

I think I prefer the spelling Briony, but either way the name is v pretty.

startail · 05/03/2012 17:22

Lovely, it was on my short list and also by coincidence my niece.
Who is totally adorable.

BillyBollyBandy · 05/03/2012 17:23

Don't like it as sounds too much like Brian.

UphillBothWays · 05/03/2012 17:53

Love it, one of my good friends is called Bryony. It works for any age.

EvenBetter · 05/03/2012 18:18

I like it! I was going to be called that & when I tell people my name was almost Bryony they say 'what? Brownie? Briny??'

cakeismysaviour · 05/03/2012 18:30

Love, love, love

PetuniaFlipflop · 05/03/2012 21:08

I found it hard being the only Bryony at school, I was desperate to be Sarah or Amy like most of the other girls! However, as I grew up I really liked having a classic but not too common name. I do love it now :)

(and If you're saying "Brian-e", you're not pronouncing it correctly!)

thegreylady · 05/03/2012 21:19

One of my favourite names

ByTheSea · 05/03/2012 21:20

One of my favourites too.

EndoplasmicReticulum · 05/03/2012 21:25

I was nearly Bryony. I'm not. My mum changed her mind at the last minute. I always feel I had a lucky escape!

Kindling · 06/03/2012 11:17

I know of a Briony, named after a male relative Brian, so that's how they pronounce it.

Petunia how else would you pronounce it?

D0oinMeCleanin · 06/03/2012 11:21

Oh Kindling do you know me? Is this child named after two male relatives?

Dd1 says to tell you that Bryony is not a good name because when you go to gift shops they never have anything with your name on it. You should call your child Amy or Beth instead. They always have Amy and Beth keyrings.

We pronounce it Brian-ee. I didn't know there was another way althou some people call her Bri-on-ee. With emphasis on the 'on'. She gets very annoyed by this.

TheSurgeonsMate · 06/03/2012 11:24

I like the name. Are those all the possible spellings? I somehow feel the spelling could be better Confused.

D0oinMeCleanin · 06/03/2012 11:28

We spell it wrong Blush

I felt similar to you TSM. I though it was either to y-ey or to vowel-y so we spell it Bryonie. Which just adds to her pain because on the very rare occassions she does find something with her name on (this happened only once) it is spelled Bryony.

Christmas cards are interesting. We get the correct Bryony, Briony and also Briannie, Briany, Breeonie, Brownie Confused, Bryanie etc.

PieMistress · 06/03/2012 22:39

I like it :)
