Please help us decide between our top two names...

For a boy we are deciding between Frank and Rupert, and for a girl between Madeleine and Ottilie (nn Lottie).

This is DC3, Madeleine and Rupert were on the cards for the previous two but Frank and Ottilie we have only decided on this pregnancy, which worries me a bit that we might go off them in time (ie at least we know Madeleine and Rupert are keepers).

But then we do worry that Rupert is just too posh..(we're not).

So please help us out..

Madeleine or Ottilie/Lottie?

Frank or Rupert?

Thank you!

Lottie and Frank for me.

Rupert also gorgeous and not so posh any more, Madeliene/Maddie done to death.

diedandgonetodevon · 19/01/2012 21:19

I love Ottilie & Rupert.

oreocrumbs · 19/01/2012 21:19

Madeleine and Rupert for me!

themsthebreaks · 19/01/2012 21:21

Thank you Febreeze - that is sort of my problem with Madeleine - I think the name is beautiful and classic and strong and feminine...but do not really like Maddie at all (too popular). And I love Lottie, but wonder if Ottilie is too faddy (in fact just read the thread re what are the big new trends in names and have been put off Ottilie a bit now!). Hmmm.

Rupert and Ottilie.

Teacup23 · 20/01/2012 11:10

Frank is a very popular boy's name at my son's school (and they seem to be the terrors) so I'd opt for Rupert.

Lottie seems as though it would be timeless, I'd be very tempted!

ViviPru · 20/01/2012 12:04

Have you considered Francis?

Definitely Ottilie. Its nice. I like Tilly as a nn. I think a couple of threads on here don't necessarily a top 10 name maketh.

Someone has to state the obvious about Madeleine. I think our generation will always struggle to disassociate the name. I admit I may be a bit influenced by the fact that we live in a neighbouring village to the McCanns Sad

persephoneplum · 20/01/2012 12:09

Lottie and Frank

CandiceMariePratt · 20/01/2012 12:11

Ottilie and Frank

TinkerMaloo · 20/01/2012 12:14

Lottie and Frank!

Rupert is a bit posh

I would worry a tad about Ottilie though, it does seem to be a bit of a top ten at the mo! (and its a bit posh too lol)

BeattieBow · 20/01/2012 12:15

I really like Ottilie.

(I don't really know how it's pronounced though is the emphasis on the middle syllable (til), the end one (ee), or none - like utterly?).

Rupert for your boys name.

nickelhasababy · 20/01/2012 13:16

love Ottilie :)

Craparinha · 20/01/2012 13:21

Lottoe And Frank

Bellaholland · 20/01/2012 13:24

Rupert and lottie!

BackforGood · 20/01/2012 13:27

Really don't like Rupert - conjures up images of a really soppy, bumbling aristocrat for me.

DawnOfTheDee · 20/01/2012 13:29

Ottilie and Frank!

StetsonsAreCool · 20/01/2012 13:33

Lottie and Frank. Frank is so cool.

Would you consider Reuben instead of Rupert? A friend of mine chose it over Rupert for the same reason you're worried about.

threecurrantbuns · 20/01/2012 13:35

I love Rupert, if we werent expecting a girl that would have been the name we would have picked.

Do know what you mean about the posh factor but I just loved it so much I don't think I could have not used it. Also when we had our first boy everyone said hip, name was posh but now its really grown on everyone and there has been 2more in our small town since he arrived bit annoyed as I loved it being individual but it Also is a sign he has a fab name.

So I viewed Rupert in a similar way.

Out of The girls I don't really like Maddie as a nn. Not completely sold on Ottilie but love Lottie.

Mrswhiteinthekitchen · 20/01/2012 13:41

Frank and Madeleine or Frank and Lottie.

minipie · 20/01/2012 15:27

Madeleine and Frank.

LaFilleSurLePont · 20/01/2012 17:37

I don't like either boys name, but Frank is awful. You can't call a lovely new baby an ugly harsh name like Frank. Rupert is nicer.

I love both of the girls names. Lottie is particuarly lovely though.

SoFarWeAreEqual · 20/01/2012 17:38

Lottie is gorgeous. Rupert is lovely

Please not Frank

seeker · 20/01/2012 17:51

I really

scarlettsmummy2 · 20/01/2012 17:53

I like ottilie/ lottie, but really not sure about either of the boys name.

LouMacca · 20/01/2012 18:09

Rupert? Really? Sorry, but it's hideous. A gorgeous little baby called Rupert? I am surprised how many people of this thread like it?? Don't like Frank either - how about Frankie?

Both girls names are pretty. Out of the two I would go for Madeleine.
