What are the hip Londoners & jet set calling their 2012 babies?

Just wondering what the posh Londoners & jet setters are calling their new babies as these are always the names that trickle into the main stream in a few months. A friend of mine is a midwife in a private London hospital & she said the following are really gaining popularity

Boy

  • Arlo
-Otto -Casper

Girls
-Fleur
-Ottolie(never heard this before!!!)
-Florence

She said in the upper class William, Edward still used commonly for boys as middle names. Charlotte, Isabella, Poppy for girls

Can you add anymore up & coming names?I'm sure there are plenty of threads like this I'm just too lazy to look!!!) Find it fascinating & I love the way high society types get away with names the majority of us find somewhat bizarre!!!

Botticelli

Bonsoir · 13/01/2012 10:35

I know a family in Paris with

Virgil
Ulysses

hugebump3 · 13/01/2012 10:41

Troy was probably made popular through HSM

zumm · 13/01/2012 14:06

Jacob (Jake), Agnes & Joe.
And that's it - the rest of my cool London friends have decided not to have children but to carry on hanging out in art galleries, bars, launch parties, and, ohh, wistful...

zumm · 13/01/2012 14:12

But you know what, of my non-jet-setty London friends (heheh) -
1 Cosmo
1 Hal
1 Raffael
2 Freddies

So, I'm not sure - maybe cooler people are going towards more solid names.

fairieswearboots · 13/01/2012 14:44

My prediction for the next set of 'cool' names for girls would be strong, capable,1940s/50s , slightly jolly hockey sticks and/or masculine/unisex eg
Lesley
Margot
Hester
Paddy
Phyllis

hugebump3 · 13/01/2012 15:23

Actually I agree about names becoming more 'strong' after the recent 'cutesy' trend.

PippiLongBottom · 13/01/2012 17:17

I love Hester. Can definitely imagine Margot too, but can't imagine the others yet.

WoollyHead · 13/01/2012 17:25

Vivien
Otis
Aristotle (Artie)
Lucien

ViviPru · 13/01/2012 17:41

YY Vivien Wink

BeattieBow · 13/01/2012 18:23

there's a Hester at my ds2's (London) nursery.

I quire like Elspeth actually which is a similar kind of name I think.

humblehippo · 13/01/2012 22:07

Hmm @ Orla being a well known euphemism for oral sex Confused No it isn't!

LineRunner · 13/01/2012 22:29

Pamela
Cynthia

are also very sensible girls.

Heswall · 13/01/2012 23:06

Slyvia has become the next big thing here.

fairieswearboots · 13/01/2012 23:21

Exactly linerunner.

LineRunner · 13/01/2012 23:52

fairies are you are fan also of

Unity
Nancy
Jessica
Diana

Marrying fascists apart, they sound quite capable.

guinealady · 14/01/2012 10:51

I'd love to use Nancy as Nancy Mitford is just to die for, but a friend has already used the name. JK Rowling called her daughter Jessica after Jessica Mitford, but it's such a popular name now, I would have to avoid it.

Don't forget the other Mitford sister, Deborah (Debo) - the only one still alive - I reckon Deborah is due a revival at some point.

Anyone considering the name Unity probably needs their heads looked at, though - not someone you'd want to be named after, a very tragic and misguided life.
