I have name changed for this one,but I am a regular,in need of some help please.
I already have 2 children and pg with number 3,and pondering names.
I've always loved the name Felix but so far I haven't used it,due to the cat connotation, but I'm now very tempted.
The problem I now have (apart from the cat association) is that our eldest is called Oscar, but as this will be child number 3,obviously it won't just be Oscar and Felix,as I'll have a middle child.
Being a little older, the film The Odd Couple also springs to mind Xmas Grin
Would just like people's opinion's please.Would you,or would it be a definate no-no? Thanks!

Oscar and Felix doesn't say anything to me except that I think they're the same type of name. So imo they go fine together.

I used to know a lovely German Felix...

moondog · 08/12/2011 21:02

God, no.
Is the other one called Tabby?

GirlWithALlamaTattoo · 08/12/2011 21:02

I don't know about The Odd Couple, but I'd think of cats. Sorry.

If I had to guess, I'd say your middle one was called Sylvester. Blush

MudAndGlitter · 08/12/2011 21:02

Or Rex. I love Oscar and felix

SixFeetUnder · 08/12/2011 21:03

It would really depend on your middle childs name..if it's Tiddles I would say no Xmas Grin

I think they're both lovely names and think having one in the middle helps IYSWIM. For example, I have an Adam and love the name Eve or Eva, will probably never get the chance to use them but wouldn't write it off completely as I would have a middle one too (although DH would veto that idea straight away so wouldn't get the chance!)

picnicbasketcase · 08/12/2011 21:04

They are quite catty tbh.

MirandaGoshawk · 08/12/2011 21:05

I thought it was going to be something horrendous. Oscar is lovely. Felix, yes, same type of name - I'm not terribly keen but that's just me. It'll be fine. Oscar and Bradleee, now... Not keen and not fine.

justhayley · 08/12/2011 21:06

I think of cats - mainly because my best childhood friend had 3 cats Oscar felix and Eddy, but they are normal boys names it's not like your calling him fluffy!

MirandaGoshawk · 08/12/2011 21:08

Oscar doesn't sound catty to me.

More doggy, tbh. Smile

lostlady · 08/12/2011 21:10

Love Felix. Wouldn't think of Odd Couple, and I am quite old

BumgrapesofWrath · 08/12/2011 21:11

I love Felix - was on my list - go for it!

ThatsNotSantasBabyBelly · 08/12/2011 21:12

I don't get the Oscar cat thing?

Felix not to my taste, but agree a similar name to Oscar and def would not think of the Odd Couple

Pepper15 · 08/12/2011 21:12

Thanks-we do have a cat called Sylvester and Tabitha is short listed on our girls names list Xmas Wink
Our other child has a very 'normal' name and tbh I wouldn't even be thinking about the name Felix,if it was just him and Oscar.
I don't think it's the cat association that's bothering me too much now-just the film Xmas Grin
Always nice to get other people's opinions.

Felix is lovely. A lovely name.

Eglu · 08/12/2011 21:27

I love Felix, also love Tabitha too.

AnotherMincepie · 08/12/2011 21:29

I've never heard of the Odd Couple.

I like Felix, but am not keen on Oscar or Tabitha.

AnotherMincepie · 08/12/2011 21:30

Sorry OP, just remembered your eldest is an Oscar! Just have different taste I think.

Pepper15 · 08/12/2011 21:31

That's ok-no offence taken Xmas Grin

Oscar is lovely but doesn't make me think of cats. I don't like Felix.

Slainte · 08/12/2011 21:35

I understand your concerns with having an Oscar, but I still love the name Felix. It's such a friendly name.

MordechaiVanunu · 08/12/2011 21:35

Oscar is a dogs name. Felix is a cats name.

Both very nice but too pet namey together.

I say thia someone who has a DS with a dogs name so had to be careful with ds2.

PercyFilth · 08/12/2011 21:45

Winalot :o

tammytoby · 08/12/2011 21:46

Actually dh laughed at both Oscar and Felix due to the Odd Couple associations, so there are some people out there who do think of the film.

But I also agree that Oscar is also a common dog name and Felix is a brand of cat food....

PercyFilth · 08/12/2011 21:49

CryingAndFarting · 08/12/2011 21:49

nothing wrong with them and I got none of the animal associations. V. popular these days however, if that's a concern of yours. Three Felixes in DS's nursery.
