Three syllabel Girls Names - with nice shortening

I'm not bothered by popularity. I have a popular name and I like it.

I love the names Isabel, Olivia, Amelia, but would not use as I'd run the risk of Izzy, Livvie or Milly. I don't like the ie or y ending.

I like a classic strong name.

I have a lot of name associations, so although nice names, I would not use Annabel, Verity, Catherine, Christina, Susannah or Violet. I just can't get past the people I know with these names. Silly I know.

Certain names that trend on here, such as Allegra, I consider too posh, and it doesn't fit with common DH and I.

Hope I have not offended everyone.

So far we have one name:

Helena

Any other suggestions?

Virginia?

neighbourhoodwitch · 07/12/2011 18:46

Oops - that has 4 syllables...:-)

RunningAllDay · 07/12/2011 18:49

Lorelei? Bit like Laura but 3 syllables and a bit less 'safe'. Apologies if already suggested.

MabelOranje · 07/12/2011 18:49

What about my name? Mabeline, shortened to Mabel?

belgo · 07/12/2011 18:55

Simona, Mona for short.

belgo · 07/12/2011 19:05

If you like the 'L' sound, what about something that shortens to Elle?

Danielle, Gabrielle for example.

Basically you want a name that noone you have ever met has had, and nobody famous or in the public eye or a character in a book, right? And not posh or weird either? Good luck!

i know scarlett is not 3 syllables but the op doesn't like the names that match her criteria so i am trying to open her landscape as it were!

i have suggested the most names onto her list, and deduced the L sound so i'm surely in with a chance of winning Smile

whats the prize? what's the prize? [shamless comppetitive face]
poor typing due to bfing in dark

YougreatChristmaspudding · 07/12/2011 20:47

We had Helena on our list for DD2 along with Eliana (Ana), Katya and Natasha (Tasha/Sacha).

cheeseandmarmitesandwich · 07/12/2011 20:54

I think you may need to re-visit some of your name associations, especially those with very minor celebs! Do you really think by the time your DD is in school anyone is going to remember who Imogen Thomas, Tamara Ecclestone or Leona Lewis are?? (Ok perhaps Leona but still it's not a bad association...)

Or just call her John Grin

hohohoshedittant · 07/12/2011 20:59

She can't use John that has associations with Shiloh Jolie-Pitt....

Oooh what about Vivienne or Zahara?

TherapeuticVino · 07/12/2011 21:26

Anneliese
