If you could choose just one boys name as your all time favourite- what would it be?

We are really stuck on a name for DS2. We already have DS1 who is Joseph, we loved this name from day one and never ever had any doubts throughout the pregnancy and when he was born it just 'fit' and suited him perfectly. I think I love his name so much that thinking of another I like as much is impossible!

Currently names we like but don't LOVE are:
Thomas
Henry
Oliver

All fairly traditional and popular names but my question is if you could pick just ONE boys name, unusual, popular or traditional, what would it be??

OP, I like Thomas and Henry from your list.

When I was expecting dd, we had Andrew and Alexander on a short list, and would probably would still use them today.

I love love love the name Cassius but it would never have gelled with our double barrelled surname.

OvO · 10/11/2011 11:28

Alexander.

mayanna123 · 10/11/2011 11:30

Andrew is lovely and quite underused today, hardolin.

My favourites include Dominic, Quentin and Nicholas.

Funtimewincies · 10/11/2011 11:30

Gethin

Neither of my boys are called it though as dh doesn't like it Grin.

Rillyrillygoodlooking · 10/11/2011 11:32

Claudio but dh wanted an English name. I am not in love with ds's name. That sounds bad doesn't it?!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 10/11/2011 11:34

Daniel
Benedict
Xander

I'd be hard pressed to pick one of those, but if pushed I'd probably have to say Daniel, just because it's the one I've loved the longest.

exoticfruits · 10/11/2011 11:34

Strangely enough I agree entirely with maandpa.

razors · 10/11/2011 11:35

If I had a boy I would call him Rudy - have always loved that name.

(Sean is a name I hated growing up but now I really like it)

newmum001 · 10/11/2011 11:36

If I have a ds he'll be connor stanley, stanley was my grandads name and I have always loved connor.

Tillyscoutsmum · 10/11/2011 11:38

Ds is Fergus. I have loved the name since being a massive Deacon Blue fan as a teenager .

I like Henry best on your list OP

Ptolemy.

Tolly for short. I'm intent on brewing another boy so i can call him Tolly!

Other than that,

Alexander
Joe
Max

are all time faves

UrsulaBuffay · 10/11/2011 11:46

Actually I really like Jago and Iago too.

UrsulaBuffay · 10/11/2011 11:46

I meant Ianto!

nickelbabe · 10/11/2011 11:48

James.

It's the first name that comes into my head for a perfect boy's name, and it's the only one that stays after considering others.

bleedingheart · 10/11/2011 11:50

Alexander

but also like...

James
Oliver
Evan
Joseph

anonymousbird · 10/11/2011 11:50

George.
Thomas are my two absolute top boys names.

And I know a Henry Joseph. Love both of those names.

lemniscate · 10/11/2011 11:51

I was so glad DC2 wasn't a boy because we had used our all time forever favourite (Leo) with DS and I would never have been able to find a name that was as good. We never felt the same way about any one girl's name and just went with the one on our shortlist that seemed to suit DD best at the time.

Of your list, my favourite is Henry. It would have been on shortlist for DC2 but it doesn't go with our surname. I think all 3 work well with Joseph as a pair of brothers. I like Joseph a lot - it was on the boy's shortlist for DC2 :)

Floggingmolly · 10/11/2011 11:56

Séan. Btw, would anyone really call their son Wolf? Hmm

mayanna123 · 10/11/2011 12:01

Wolfgang is a fairly popular older mens' name in Germany, can't say I like it much. The typical nickname is Wolfie, not Wolf (which is wolf in German too Grin).

Pinot · 10/11/2011 12:03

Leo.

mrsruffallo · 10/11/2011 12:06

Friends of mine have a son called Wolf, he is two years oldnow. He is adorable and it is a very cool name.

lemniscate · 10/11/2011 12:08

Pinot - you have very good taste indeed :o

pilates · 10/11/2011 12:14

Jack followed closely by George
