DS5 arrived yesterday at 9:54 pm (two and a half weeks early!) and with his scatty parents no where near choosing a name! After meeting him though we have narrowed it down to two combinations, both of which we love. They are -
Jeremiah Hendrix
Rudy Hendrix
(Hendrix being a middle name not our surname)
As we love them both we really want to get a wider perspective and see what others opinions are - we have already asked the midwife what her favourite is!

I dont think we have been asked yet. I dont think we look like a Rudolph sort of family though.

We fit more of the 'in dah hood' description so maybe thats why Grin

innit.

Rudi to me sounds Jewish...short for 'Rudolph'

it reminds me of

i always was 'my message to you, Houdini'

4madboys · 30/10/2011 13:32

lol my ds4 who is Rudi, gets very cross that there is now a bird called Rudi, i think they spell it with a Y tho? thankfully it doesnt seem to be too popular as far as kids tv prog go! and lol at message to you houdini Grin

4madboys · 30/10/2011 13:33

but yes people do think it is a shortened version of rudolph and that is what is says in the baby name books.

MuddlingThroughItAll · 30/10/2011 13:38

We are definitely not calling him Rudolph :o

My DD was Billie but it wasnt short for Whilemina. Shortened names can be names in their own right cant they? Like John or Joe or Betty.

We also call Rudy, Rudilinka.

Poor little Rudy Ru (ooops theres another one).

He hasnt a clue what his actual name is bless him.

MuddlingThroughItAll - really? No name change? My god that means there's another MNer with a child with the name Darwin Silas - how amazing is that, to have a very unusual name and there be someone else with the same highly unusual name - which clearly isn't quite as unusual as you'd think Grin

TFMD ^I dont think we have been asked yet. I dont think we look like a Rudolph sort of family though.

I always assumed that Billie was just Billie ... I think people obsessed with having a CV name assume everything that's not a looooooooooooong name must be a nn!!

Amazing names! Love them all especially Wolfie and Heath. They are the type of names I would have loved if DH wasn't so boring conservative! I still think that Jeremiah sits best at the end of that list because I like a mixture of syllables in siblings names. I know a girl with four children all with two syllable names and it irks me just a little bit!

MuddlingThroughItAll · 30/10/2011 15:34

That's such a coincidence, Chipping (although it is a pretty great name Wink). Thanks for all of the comments everyone! DH has suddenly decided that he no longer likes the name Rudy :( so it's a two horse race between Jeremiah Hendrix and Hendrix Jeremiah. We love both but just feel that Jeremiah is the safe option as our only doubt with Hendrix is that it is too out there..what do you think?

Jeremiah Hendrix flows better imo.

I also think you'll be asked frequently about Jimi Hendrix if you put Hendrix first.

petitdonkey · 30/10/2011 15:47

I agree that you have to be prepared for lots of 'What? Like Jimi?'

collegedropout · 30/10/2011 16:15

Out of those two I love Hendrix Jeremiah but I wouldn't be brave enough! Practise calling him both and see which works best. And, at least you have your second favourite as a middle name whichever you choose and you can use that if you feel you've made the wrong choice :)

MuddlingThroughItAll · 30/10/2011 21:46

Good point about being able to use the middle name, college. That's what we do with DS2 as we weren't brave enough to give Wolf as his first name we just call him Wolfie. Hypothetically, if Hendrix was the first name, would we be burdening him by using it?
