Just thought of it and think it's lovely, though not for everyone am sure! What do you think?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Posy Simmons is an artist/writer I think.
I think it's very pretty but would wonder about the word 'pose' being such a strong element of the name! But I like simple names which are a bit of a blank canvas myself!

Nosy Posy.

bigbadbarry · 05/10/2011 12:48

It is cute - the little one from Ballet Shoes and/or the flumps

CointreauVersial · 05/10/2011 12:48

Ballet Shoes!

GrimmaTheNome · 05/10/2011 12:51

Its a pretty baby/little girl's name. Not sure how well it sits on a grownup woman TBH.

BedHog · 05/10/2011 12:52

It's very prim. Wasn't the youngest sister in 'Ballet Shoes' called Posy? It has a whistful, nostalgic feel to it I suppose, but I can't imagine a 21st century Posy.

mrszimmerman · 05/10/2011 12:55

Isn't there a Posy journalist who writes about cocktail bars?

Really like it - think it is a shortened version of Josephine, so you could use that with Posy as a nickname, then she would have the choice of being called Josephine/Jo/Josie etc. when older if she wanted to.

thistlemuncher · 05/10/2011 15:25

thought of Ballet Shoes too!

Toobluntforboss · 05/10/2011 15:26

Love it - think it is very sweet.

birdofthenorth · 05/10/2011 15:58

I quite like it, bit it does make me think "Rosie, Posy, pudding & pie, kissed a girl & made them cry", sorry!

Deesus · 05/10/2011 16:01

Bit too cute for me I'm afriad...!

QueenVictoria42 · 05/10/2011 16:44

meh. Posy nosey parker.

ragged · 05/10/2011 16:51

Very babyish. Please not as full name.
I just asked 10yo DD (has some very shallow X-Factor tastes) what she thought of it... actually, she thought it was fine! "There's a book about a teenager called Posie", she said.

Sounds a bit odd and little-girly to me

CandiceMariePratt · 06/10/2011 09:16

I know a Posy, lovely name.

Listzilla · 06/10/2011 09:38

My DD is called Róisín but it's been shortened to Rosie or sometimes Posy and the cutesiness really suits her. And we do sometimes call her Nosy Posy, she's very interested in everything : )

Rhubarbgarden · 06/10/2011 09:41

Twee

Lancelottie · 06/10/2011 09:43

Wasn't there a poster last year who was desperate to use Posy but had unfortunately already called her older child Joseph? Lots of other suggested 'long' forms on that thread -- I liked the suggestions along the lines of Poppy Rose shortened to Posy.

Let me try again, ahem......

The Flumps

chocolatehobnobs · 06/10/2011 12:25

Gorgeous for a little girl but I can't see a Posy as a professional woman
