Baby is due in just under 4 weeks and we're still undecided on a boys name. Just wondering what everyone thinks of the name Daniel. The middle name will definitely be Oliver.
Many thanks

Sooooooooo dull.

YokoOhNo · 24/09/2011 18:46

I like it very much. It is quite common, so your DS is unlikely to be the only Daniel, but that's because it is a nice name Smile

Sinkingfeeling · 24/09/2011 18:50

I love it, and it doesn't seem common in my dc's school. Lots of Bens, Sams and Toms, but I can only think of one Daniel.

5inthebed · 24/09/2011 18:58

I love it, I have one of those :)

LetThereBeRock · 24/09/2011 19:47

Love it.

ragged · 24/09/2011 19:50

You have good taste, OP I have one, too :).

Hopintobed · 24/09/2011 19:53

I love it1 My all time favourite boy's name but it's also my brother's name so we are going to use it as a middle name. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!! I've said this on here before but one person's 'dull' is another person's 'classic'. I'd much rather have a classic name that won't date instead of a bizzare trendy name that people snigger at. I love Daniel. PLEASE USE IT!!!! Grin

PuppyMonkey · 24/09/2011 19:54

Boring.

triskaidekaphile · 24/09/2011 19:55

A great name.

AgathaTrunchbull · 24/09/2011 20:06

Well, at least everyone will be able to spell it!

It's a lovely name (I'm not allowed it, because my husband doesn't think 'Jnr' is a good idea). It is, as noted above, ridiculously common, but at least you have a range of nicknames.

ragged · 24/09/2011 20:11

Actually, cough cough, Agatha, DS's name once got spelled "Denial" by a preschool worker (who learnt English as an adult, I suspect).
I thought it was kind of funny, actually.

pearlgirl · 24/09/2011 20:13

I love it.

AgathaTrunchbull · 24/09/2011 20:13

That's a cracker!

hiccymapops · 24/09/2011 20:13

Love it.

mopsyflopsy · 24/09/2011 20:21

Very boring and dull, sorry. But thankfully we all have different tastes Smile

Love it. We have one and would also be happy if he shortens it to Dan or Danny when he's older.

gladyoucame · 24/09/2011 21:16

I have a Daniel and I also like the shortenings of it too, I know its top 10 but I've not met many others in his age range (3.4) in our area. You've got to say it lots of times a day so go with something you like!

gladyoucame · 24/09/2011 21:17

I also have an Oliver so thats a great name too, again 'common' but possibly not in our area in that age range (21 mths).

AlwaysRocking · 24/09/2011 21:22

I like it, it's also one of my best friends' favourite boys name so we'll have to see who has a boy first! Smile I think it's more common among my age group than for babies, at least around here.

BlondeG · 24/09/2011 21:33

I have one, but tbh it's not my favourite name in the world. OH loved it and I couldn't think of an alternative I liked more.

However we now call him Dan which I love. Much, much prefer and in fact I never, ever, refer to him as Daniel - always Dan, and I correct teachers or other adults who don't call him Dan.

CODwidow · 24/09/2011 21:34

I like it Smile

MrsRhettButler · 24/09/2011 21:35

I love Daniel

MustControlFistOfDeath · 24/09/2011 21:39

Lovely name, it's on the shortlist for DS2 (If there is a DS2)

DP wants the name 'Seweryn' (he is Polish) for DS2, he doesn't realise that is NEVER going to happen Grin

MissBetsyTrotwood · 24/09/2011 21:45

I've got one. I've not met any others amongst the DC's peers. Boring is as boring does!

Danny Cipriani was in the news a fair bit when I was pregnant. Blush

Then he was born - that was his name from the off!
