LetThereBeRock · 15/08/2011 20:17

A definite no.It sounds like a Mafia member.

LetThereBeRock · 15/08/2011 20:18

Vincent is nicer.

redglow · 15/08/2011 20:24

Do not like vincent.

Bunbaker · 15/08/2011 20:26

Everyone will assume it is the abbreviation for Vincent whether you like it or not though.

redglow · 15/08/2011 20:28

I suppose so bunbaker.

Friend was called Vincent and loathed it; after years of bullying, changed his name at around 15 to something else. Sorry.

hangon · 15/08/2011 20:40

I think the name sounds like a little thug. Its probably going to be naughty before it is born.

InstantAtom · 15/08/2011 20:53

How about Victor instead?

tammytoby · 15/08/2011 21:03

I like Vincent. Vinnie would be cute whilst young. I'd definately put Vincent on the bc.

No, Victor would be Vic or Vicky - not very feminine.

redglow · 15/08/2011 21:14

How about Vinnie-jay or Vinnie-Joe

OP posts:
GwendolineMaryLacey · 15/08/2011 21:14

Worse. Much worse.

Dragonwoman · 15/08/2011 21:45

I have a Vinnie (full name Vincent on bc). People keep telling me it's a 'cool' name and he's the only one in his school, but this isn't a bad thing, the other kids seem to like his name. I still love it too.Smile

redglow · 15/08/2011 21:54

Finally somebody likes it.

OP posts:
Bunbaker · 15/08/2011 22:13

No to hyphenated names. Round here they aren't thought of very highly.

exoticfruits · 15/08/2011 22:21

Horrid.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 15/08/2011 23:10

Is it for a boy or a girl?

MumblingRagDoll · 15/08/2011 23:13

Uber cool. Love it. DH and I had discussed it too. If we had had a boy.

acsec · 15/08/2011 23:16

Isn't the panda on the Foxes bis-quits ads called Vinnie? Also Vinnie Jones springs to mind.

MysteriousHamster · 15/08/2011 23:20

I love Vincent (it was on my shortlist, but not my husband's) and like Vinnie.

People will assume Vinnie is short for Vincent. And just no no no to Vinnie-Joe or Vinnie-Jay

Fisharefriendsnotfood · 15/08/2011 23:24

What about Vince?

first1 · 16/08/2011 00:12

Bisquits

Dragonwoman · 16/08/2011 01:09

There is also the long form Vincenzo if you don't like Vincent. I loved the name Vinnie so much I considered Lavinia for a girl, but the 'Lav' bit put me off. Too much like lavatory!

EskimoPie · 16/08/2011 07:11

Yup, mafia. Italian barber / greengrocer / pizzamaker..

lovecat · 16/08/2011 07:23

Hideous. He'll be thought of as a thug before anyone has even met him. And as for the hillbilly 2 names thing - please, no.

Blatherskite · 16/08/2011 07:23

Vinnie-Jay sounds like a euphemism for a fanjo.

PILs suggested Vincent when I was expecting DS. I absolutely loathed it. Vinnie Jones immediately sprung to mind and makes me think of thick, "hard" troublemakers.
