Eva Rose or Emma Catherine?

smallgreycat · 14/08/2011 21:14

Our surname is a short name starting with D.

Other names that have been considered for middle names are Mary and Charlotte. What do you think? Or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!

Emma Catherine, far more unusual at the moment. Both lovely names though.

LetThereBeRock · 14/08/2011 21:23

Emma Catherine.

Thank you Gwen, I am currently leaning towards that one but OH not as keen on Catherine and he really likes Eva, Eva also has a family connection so is partly chosen for that reason....

Eva Rose is much prettier in my opinion but Emma is also pretty.

Mowlem · 14/08/2011 23:23

Emma Catherine.

Bandwithering · 14/08/2011 23:49

Emma Catherine seems less ....right now. But I love Eva.

Rosemary Eve would be a tweak on Eva Rose that is classic but less of the moment somehow.

ChessPiece · 14/08/2011 23:55

Emma Catherine

classic and classy although there may be a surge in Catherines soon?

thisisyesterday · 14/08/2011 23:58

Eva and Rose are both used a LOT at the moment, so if you want something a little less common then I would definitely go with Emma Catherine, which is a lovely name

posterofawolef · 14/08/2011 23:59

Emmy Rose?

scarlettlips · 15/08/2011 10:48

Emma Catherine.

Soooooo many Eva and roses about at the moment. Nice names, but very popular.

gazzalw · 15/08/2011 10:51

Totally agree with Emma Catherine! Very retro (in a good way) and unusual combination of names at the moment!

mayanna123 · 15/08/2011 10:52

Eva is such a commonly used first name these days and Rose seems to be the default middle name. So definately go for Emma Catherine - much less common and less likely to date.

Ephiny · 15/08/2011 10:53

Emma Catherine would be my choice Both good classic names that will 'last' and shouldn't sound too dated in the future.

Both are nice though, so go with whichever one you love!

manicinsomniac · 15/08/2011 10:55

I think Eva Rose is much prettier. Agree that it's more popular at the moment but not sure why that's a problem - who wants an unpopular name?!

LadyClariceCannockMonty · 15/08/2011 10:59

I know Eva and Rose are both very popular but I think they're so much nicer than Emma or Catherine. Also I'm not sure about Emma and Catherine together; would prefer Emma Rose or Eva Catherine (would actually spell it Katherine).

mayanna123 · 15/08/2011 11:01

"who wants an unpopular name"

Anyone who 1) doesn't want to share his/her name with thousands others and 2) doesn't want his/her name to date as a result of overuse at a certain point in time Smile.

mayanna123 · 15/08/2011 11:02

I would also not worry about the middle name - you rarely if ever use this.

In other words, I would make the right choice between Eva or Emma.

pointydog · 15/08/2011 11:03

Both nice.

Eva Rose is gorgeous. If you're concerned about over-popularity - not that I would be - then make it Eva Charlotte. (Eva Mary sounds too much like Ave Maria)

tammytoby · 15/08/2011 11:04

Another vote for Emma as Eva/Evie is so overused at the moment - I know about 6 under the age of seven.

Ephiny · 15/08/2011 11:05

Emma and Catherine are perfectly normal, nice, well-known names though. It's not a case of choosing a weird or 'unpopular' name just for the sake of it!

As someone with THE most-used girls name for my year of birth (and a top 3 name for several years either side) I can say there's such a thing as too popular!

lostlady · 15/08/2011 11:06

I love Eva Rose

chocolatehobnobs · 15/08/2011 11:55

Emma Catherine - sounds elegant and is less overused
