Maddex or Maddox?

Hello, I need to register my baby's name today. We decided on Maddex (Maddex Arran) but am a little apprehensive. Firstly should I spell it Maddex or Maddox and secondly what do you think of the name please?
Thanks

Mad Dog is a cool nickname for a teenager.

Not so great for a little one though, it has to be said.

hulabula, I agree, but people always seem to shorten a name unless it's 1 syllable. I am really confused now. We didn't register the name as I can't decide now.

Maddox and I really like it, its a very cool name.
His friends will probably give him a nickname if he doesnt choose one himself and theres nothing you can do about it! Isn't it annoying when people shorten your kids names? Even more so when its other adults, I think its soooo rude!

thanks airborne, it is annoying when adults shorten your kids names. So you definitely think Maddox is better than Maddex?

Maddex just looks like you can't spell I'm afraid. Maddox is better. I do prefer Arran Maddox though Grin.

Maddox is 10000000000000 times better than Maddex, never seen that spelling before, looks daft. And Arran is a better first name than either.

Maddox with a D definitely. Do you like Lennox? along the same lines but Lenny makes a better nick name than Maddy. Also, I will admit to liking 'lex' too!

Arran is marginally better than Maddox/Maddex but IMO both are bloody awful

Both bloody awful - agree with mollymole on that front.

Please don't call him Maddex. It's really bad. Maddox is better.

Maddox is much nicer than Maddex imo.

I know many children with 2 and 3 syllable names (including my two) whose names never get shortened. Maddox rolls off the tongue easily enough.

At the end of the day, YOU have to be happy with your choice. WE're just a random bunch of internetters who may have completely different tastes than you - go with what YOU love.

thanks bigbluebump, I did ask for opinions so I guess I have to take the good with the bad. It's nice to get some feedback from everyone. I guess I was just hoping for a little more positive feedback. My eldest boys' name is Kaiden and I absolutely love it and no one could have changed my mind on that one, but I am struggling with this one! We also like Ethan. So I think it's between Maddox and Ethan but they are so so different. Hmm

Maddex?

I saw Maddex on a website and loved how different it was. I also think it rolls off the tongue easier than Maddox. Plus we thought he might get Maddo for short if we spelt it with an O?

I agree with bigbluebump. It is you that will have to live with the name so you want something that you are happy with. I am simply pedantic and it grates on me to see a name that just looks "wrong" because it has an alternative spelling. Sometimes being different for different's sake smacks of trying too hard as well.

Before you jump on me, I speak from experience because I have a very unusual name and absolutely hated it as a child. I still don't like it much now, but at least when I search the email address book at work I only have to put my first name in because there is only one of me Smile

I'm the same, my name is very different and even though I've never really liked it, I do like that I'm the only one too. I wouldn't jump on you, I appreciate your constructive input. That is what I'm looking for thank you. Smile

Oh if it is between Maddox and Ethan then Ethan for sure!

Although I think Maddox works well with your first child's name. They are similar types of names if you know what I mean. Not really my type of names but then I am sure my DS's name would not be your type of name!

So if you like Maddox go with that.

I think Kaiden and Maddox work well together - they won't be to everyone's taste but the important thing is you like them. Definitely Maddox not Maddex though.

Maddex does not look like a name at all. It is really, really awful.
