Maddex or Maddox?

Noleen · 12/07/2011 11:50

Hello, I need to register my baby's name today. We decided on Maddex (Maddex Arran) but am a little apprehensive. Firstly should I spell it Maddex or Maddox and secondly what do you think of the name please?
Thanks

Maddox

Maddex just looks uneducated.

Not being nasty. The OP asked which new name goes best with Kaiden as well as which we like best in isolation - I said why I think Maddex goes best with Kaiden, and was honest about my reasoning, and then which I personally liked best from her list.

Sorry but Jaiden, Kamden and Raiden are excruciating.

Thanks for all your opinions. What boys names do you love ?

Jacob / Jake - very nice
Quade - ?
Ethan - very nice
Arran - lovely
Maddox - very nice
Keegan (similar to Kaiden) - dreadful
Kobie - dreadful

Maddex is appallingly bad. Coby rather than Kobie would be ok, but next to Kaiden it might look odd. Kaiden and Kobie together would be horrendous.

Maddex sounds like a pharmaceutical drug Maddox is OK for a boy but find it wincing for a girl

Some of you are being very rude. The OP has a child named Kaiden and is asking for help naming her second child. She's not asking people to be rude or to insult her son's name.

Personally I don't like Kaiden nor any of the suggested names. But it is not my baby and the OP may well not like my name choices (not many people do Smile), but thankfully we all have different tastes!

But to answer the op specifically, I prefer Maddox over Maddex.

"I'd go for the recognised spelling of Maddox Noleen, if for no other reason than otherwise your child will spend their whole life saying "not ox, ex"."

I agree, and also explaining to the teacher that your child's parents aren't really dyslexic.

maddox over maddex i keep pronouncing it mad ex in my head when im reading it, ethan is nice too but maddox arran is lovely, it doesnt matter what a bunch of strangers think of your babys name as long as you and your OH like it. good luck deciding :)

Is there any need to be rude about someone's child's name? How nasty.

I'd go for the recognised spelling of Maddox Noleen, if for no other reason than otherwise your child will spend their whole life saying "not ox, ex".

I guess I am just more open to different, unique names and lots of people prefer traditional names. I mean some names are quite funny if you break them down.

Tony - Toe Knee
Anthony - Ants and Knees
Luke - Luke warm water
Will - I should write a will before I die
Cameron - Camera
Justin - Just in time
Dustin - Dust

If we hadn't heard of any of these before we might have thought they were awful too ?

Umm, Nattersandmutters, I appreciate your opinion but to be fair, I am only asking about Maddex, not my first child's name. I think Kaiden is a wonderful name and have had many positive comments about it. Smile

Thanks razzlebathbone, but Kaiden is a name as per below however I think Maddex is derived from Maddox which is also a proper name.

Kaiden meaning and name origin

Kaiden <br />
ka(i)-den\ as a boy's name is a variant of Kaden (Arabic), and the meaning of Kaiden is "companion".
The baby name Kaiden sounds like Kayden, Kaeden, Kaidon, Kaidin, Kaidan and Caiden. Other similar baby names are Jaiden, Kamden and Raiden.

Honestly? I think both Maddex and Kaiden are awful. They are not proper names. Sorry. If you want to give him a real name, you could use Madoc (which is Welsh).

Noleen - to be very honest with you I think quite a few people would think Maddex goes best with Kaiden because they are both names which aren't really, well, names. To put it bluntly, they both look completely made up. But if you like them and want two names which go together then call him Maddex. Nothing else seems to be doing it for you.

If I had to pick any of your list I would say Jacob.

you're the first person to say that. But what do you think of Maddex? does it remind you of a mad ex?

To be honest, "Maddex" goes best with "Kaiden" Wink

Arran, Ethan and Maddox are the best ones - all go with Kaiden.

Thanks for your honest opinions. Okay out of the following which do you like best, bearing in mind my other boy's name is Kaiden.

Jacob / Jake
Quade
Ethan
Arran
Maddox
Keegan (similar to Kaiden)
Kobie

Maddox if you must. Maddex just looks like you really can't spell. Maddox looks like you aren't too keen on spelling, tbh, but is far preferable to Maddex.

I have to admit when I saw this thread I thought the question was going to be about what the Mad Ex wanted to call the baby!
Arran is lovely (I'm a fan of the island too), nothing wrong with Ethan or Maddox but definitely not Maddex. It's your choice obviously, but I wouldn't want to shout "Maddex" across a crowded playground - it would make you look like the local nutter having relationship difficulties in pubic.

I like Ethan best. Sorry but Maddox I absolutely hate, cannot explain why but I don't think I have heard a worse name (and you did ask for opinions).
