Is there a name like Juniper, but not Juniper?

Juniper is almost my perfect name.

My issues with is are

(a) it sounds like Jew nipper; one who bites Jewish people.

(b) nipper is an ugly sound.

But Juniper is lovely... and Juney is gorgeous, and my other daughter has a Woo, nature name...

What to do?

There is a woman in my department called Ginerva, gets shortened to Jen.

Clover is my name for a DD too, but DP will never ever stand for it. Clover from the WKD books was my inspiration too. She reminded me so much of my youngest sister that I called her Clover for a while too. Perhaps I shall force DP to read WKD (unfortunate abbreviation) so I can name my as-yet-to-be-concieved DD Clover. His girl's name for DS was Layla FFS. I like Juno btw, tis kinda spunky.

Firawla · 26/05/2011 21:02

what about Juney then? that is okay..

nature names what about Zinnia, Zephyr, Lilac, Hawthorne, Primrose..

if you liked Jubilee I knew someone who was called Journee, kind of like Journey? which also reminds me of someone I heard called Story

I don't actually think the jew-nipper thing would really come up a lot if you used it

I also love Juniper but can't see it as a name for an actual person, iyswim.

Rowan is on my list for a boy but OH isn't having any of it.

UndiscoveredApprentice · 28/05/2011 11:40

I would never ever think Jew Nipper when hearing Juniper.

UrsulaBuffay · 28/05/2011 11:41

Genevieve?

Blimey you're pickier than my DH Grin

Greenwing · 28/05/2011 12:30

Has anybody already suggested Ginevra?

allhailtheaubergine · 28/05/2011 17:32

Oh I know that other people almost crtainly wouldn't think jew nipper, but I would. It really annoys m actually, because it's such a beautiful name. Stupid brain.

Lavender is nice actually. Oh, but Lav for short is terrible.

when i suggested lavender i did wonder about the nn lav but so many names have potentially awkward nns , i thought i'd mention it regardless .

i know how you feel about seeing something others probably would n't see , dh loves felicity but all i could see was flea city or facility .

chrisonabike · 28/05/2011 18:13

Jacaranda? Jac is a cool nn (although Randy less so!)

mathanxiety · 29/05/2011 06:05

Oh Jacaranda is fabulous.

How about Iolanthe or Fuchsia?
